He's gotta get bored playing with mere mortals. The game runs at such a slow motion pace in his head.

He handled those balls quite well.

Speaking of legends, unforgettable technique, and world-class players, I can't be the only one taking a late liquid lunch and watching Sunderland-Reading.

....Anyone?...

Also Arsenal is losing to Bradford in the League Cup.

I'm still working and will be for the next 6 hours, so no drinking for me. Don't really care so long as Sunderland get me Fitba points. Both these teams look relegation fodder anyway.

So far, so good for you then. Sunderland up 2-0 at half. I don't even remember what I put down for this match.

I am watching it, at work though, so I'll stop part way through the second half. Then I'll go home and watch the recording later.

He makes it look easy. I guess the great players just know where to be on the field.

I like watching relegation teams battling it out [SOMEBODY MAKE A LIVERPOOL JOKE, I DARE YA!], more fun than a huge team slaughtering a less well funded opponent or two mid-table teams battling it out in a grand mediocrity scrimmage [SOMEBODY MAKE A LIVERPOOL JOKE, I DARE YA!]. Cheers, everybody!

Basically I'm just burning use-or-lose PTO though.

I liked the part where the kinda-blue pixels got near the kinda-white pixels, then the kinda-white pixels moved fast towards a rectangular looking thing and then someone yelled.

2 goals from Andreas Weimann gets Villa into the League Cup semis, and it looks like Arsenal is going to crash out against Bradford City.

Haha, never mind that, TV5 comes in to save Arsenal's bacon just as I typed that last one.

Sunderland lock up at least 10 Fitba points for me. Hooray.

As a former keeper I should know better than to click on things like this. Watching Messi and Fabregas is like watching Gretzky and Kurri in their primes only slower and with a much bigger net.

Post comes through with some key saves and Arsenal are out of the League Cup.

You walked into that one, man.

Seriously, that's why Messi isn't just the best player in the world right now but in the discussion for best ever. It's very, very hard to find a player that gives a more honest effort for a full 90 minutes, is so honest as a person that he refuses to dive(!) and still be such a prolific scorer. He is a once in a generation player.

I wanted to pick a favorite, almost all are spectacular. So many scored from inside the 18, I think the free kicks from outside might be the best. The near post one against RM. He's beating the best keeper in the world on that one.

One thing I noticed on his placement, about 95% were to the far post. And the few that weren't, you can see the keeper move to react to that tendency, before the shot.

I was more amused by the Messi lovefest in this thread, I was gonna keep it going by saying he plays for Barcelona and anyone who plays in La Liga is a diving biatch, but that might have gone a hair too far.

He played primarily a set up role in the world cup and made a couple awesome assists

Whatevs. Gretzky still holds the record with 92

Nice post, subby.

Not many screamers in there, but farked if the guy isn't always in the right position and mentally about three steps of the opposing players. I'm sure they literally have nightmares the night before they have to take him on.

Didn't quite get through it all.

But is it odd that he doesn't score many put-backs? I think I saw one where he put in someone else's (it had already beat the keeper and was going in; he just buried it), but none where he put in a rebound off the keeper/post/whatever. Seems like he would put in a handful that way...

Scoring off of a rebound from your own shot is fairly rare. Usually they come from other people's shots.
