and? how much did he give to Romney?

2012-12-11 12:30:43 PM
This is actually not very surprising, considering what happened to me last week. I was out shopping for bath towels when a campaign fundraiser guy started demanding I contribute to getting Romney elected, only the election was already over and Obama won. Don't you know it's over, I said, but he kept growling and tugging at my bath towels and hissing at me. Let it go, man, I said, but I think people all around me misunderstood because people were screaming and stampeding and pointing at him, and then Animal Control showed up because apparently he wasn't a republican, he was a rabid wolverine that had somehow gotten 'Romney 2012' stickers all over him and the next thing I know I'm in the hospital with shredded bath towels and needles sticking in me everywhere. It wasn't much fun.

So yeah, I can totally see this happening.

One week after the 2012 election, Fox News correspondent Jesse Watters told Bill O'Reilly that Obama voters were "zombies" who supported the president "as long as there was Obamacare, gay marriage and abortion on demand."

And we get out of Afghanistan...yeah. I'm going to support him on the other issues because no matter how bad he is (SOPA, USAPATRIOT, etc.) he can't be any worse than the Republicans.

There's a flaw in that arguement. By the time you've listened to Limbaugh, Beck, or Hannity for 18 minutes you've pretty much heard their whole spiel for the rest of the week.

At the $500 donor level, you were placed on certain campaign distribution lists that included information not generally disclosed to the general public, which a media organization could monitor to determine if there was anything newsworthy.

I myself have used this same tactic in local elections, and would forward the Dear Valued Doner e-mails to my guy's campaign.

Of course I did not give $500 bucks.

The Harvard thing is questionable. From the Wiki:

In 1995, having established himself as a national media personality, O'Reilly was accepted to Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government; he received a Master of Public Administration in 1996.[25]

Anyway, it seems every time he goes up against Jon Stewart, Stewart wipes him out. His tried-and-true method for "winning" debates is to intimidate his opponent, which isn't really winning.

This is actually not very surprising, considering what happened to me last week. I was working a shift in the ER when they brought in a total stoner wearing nothing but bloodied, shredded bath towels. I figured he was just some liberal college kid who fell into some bushes while on a bad acid trip, particularly since he kept screaming and babbling about Xmen comic book characters or somesuch nonsense. You can imagine my surprise when I found in his clutched hands several Romney-Ryan 2012 stickers, wadded and matted with hair.

I gave him a few stitches and a tetanus shot. While he was coming down, just to mess with him, I whispered in his ear: "because you don't have insurance, I need to report you to the IRS for for Obamacare tax reasons..." That was pretty fun.

I agree that it's "toe", and sympathize with the depth of your angst at the incorrect "tow". But you are incorrect regarding the origin of the phrase.

Wikipedia wouldn't lie to us:
It is commonly and erroneously thought that its origins lie in the British House of Commons where sword-strapped members were instructed to stand behind lines that were two sword-lengths apart from their political rivals in order to restore decorum. However, there is no record of a time when Members of Parliament were allowed to bring swords into the Chamber. Historically, only the Serjeant at Arms carries a sword as a symbol of his role in Parliament. There are loops of pink ribbon in the Members' cloakroom for MPs to hang up their swords before entering the Chamber to this very day as a result of this rule. In fact, there were not any lines in the Chamber in the days that gentlemen carried swords.

A similar thing happens if you stare too long at the color yellow. When you look away, the world appears blue. It's not that the world is actually blue, but just that you've spent too much time staring at yellow.

OF COURSE that's why Mitt lost! Do you think if the Media downplayed everything Obama did and played up everything Romney did that the country would have voted for Obama? He would have been shown a public ass on TV while Mitt would be decorated in gold and raised up under the song of angels, damned with the devil while Romney was elevated as the Holy Messiah in public theater. The voters would have fled from Obama and run to Romney.

We could have done the same for Gary Johnson or Ron Paul, made him win by a landslide.

An item in the Extra Bases baseball notebook last Sunday misidentified, in some editions, the origin of the name Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver, which Mets pitcher R. A. Dickey gave one of his bats. Orcrist was not, as Dickey had said, the name of the sword used by Bilbo Baggins in the Misty Mountains in "The Hobbit"; Orcrist was the sword used by the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield in the book. (Bilbo Baggins's sword was called Sting.)

bluefoxicy: unexplained bacon: 2) do you think that's why Mitt lost?

OF COURSE that's why Mitt lost! Do you think if the Media downplayed everything Obama did and played up everything Romney did that the country would have voted for Obama? He would have been shown a public ass on TV while Mitt would be decorated in gold and raised up under the song of angels, damned with the devil while Romney was elevated as the Holy Messiah in public theater. The voters would have fled from Obama and run to Romney.

We could have done the same for Gary Johnson or Ron Paul, made him win by a landslide.

So in your opinion the media was pro-Obama and anti-Romney?

Wouldn't it be hilarious if it turned out you voted for Mitt?

That's the first thing *I* read into this. $500 is NOT a serious supporting donation for a guy with income like that.

back when I actually called myself a libertarian I was all about the broad view of the philosophy...live and let live sort of vibe. I really didn't go too deep for a while, after a year or two I had thought about it too much and wasn't too happy with the logical follow through on a lot of the ideas.

Jesse Watters waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demoncrats in the White House. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to the Amercian people were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
Jesse was a talking head for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the news and he said to dad "I want to be on the news daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONCRATS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the studio of FOX he knew there were demonscrats.
"This is O'Reilly" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demoncrats!"
So Jesse gotted his microphone and blew up the minds.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demoncrats
"I will yell at him" said the Obama and he fired the campaign missiles. John pundited at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the demoncrats" he shouted
The radio said "No, Jesse. You are the demoncrats"
And then Jesse was a zombie.

It's "toe" for fark's sake!

The original assertion here is that "toe the line" derives from the existence of free-throw lines in the House of Commons, and that members may put their toe to the line but not cross it. The wiki disproves a different assertion - that the lines are two sword lengths apart and were a preventative measure to prevent bloodshed. Disproving assertion 2 does not disprove assertion 1.

This is actually not very surprising, considering what happened to me last week. I was going into the ER when this cop stopped me from getting to the door. He pointed up towards the roof and I saw a total stoner wearing nothing but bloodied, shredded bath towels. He was stitched up and wearing a bandage on his shoulder. I figured he was attacked by his cat after blowing smoke in its eyes one time too many and was hysterical because his insurance didn't cover his care, particularly since he kept screaming and babbling about Dr. Giggles taking his Obamacare. You can imagine my surprise when he dropped several Romney-Ryan 2012 stickers, wadded and matted with hair.

That is one of the primary reasons I cancelled cable. I could not stop watching those bullsh*t shows because I could not believe the vomitous bile that was spewing forth from their sucks. They just keep doubling down every minute.

That was when I knew I had a problem and just cut the cable. My life is much more pleasant now.

It was kind of like how I watched every single time Bush was on TV. His stupidity amazed me. "This guy has the nuclear football. Wow." Obama? I just zone out because competence and intelligence is boring. I know he's doing the job and whatever. ZZzzzZZZzzzzzz...

A few points:

1) "....as long as there was Obamacare, gay marriage and abortion on demand." -- This is absolutely true. He says it in a negative and condescending way, but it's absolutely true. As a person who voted for President Obama, if he abandoned any of those issues I'd be irate.

2) I've quit a couple jobs over things I felt were morally incorrect. I once quit working a really nice gig at a health insurance company. The final straw was was when a peer of mine had his heart surgery canceled by the company the evening before he was supposed to go in and get it done. I believe they hit him with some sort of "per-existing condition" nonsense. I'd imagine at least half of the IT department walked out.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to get to is that it catches me off-guard to see someone sell out their personal principles and lack any sort of empathy for others because they want a nice paycheck. I can see turning a blind-eye to things from time to time, but there are some businesses and companies that you couldn't pay a million dollars to smile at 'em.

3) Most of the American television media news is conservative, most of the American television media entertainment is liberal, almost all of the American radio media is conservative, and newspapers are dying or dead ... so who really gives a shiat.

The only thing I don't like about it is the "on demand" bit. It just conjures up images of patients telling their doctors what to do which I think crosses a line. I don't think you should be able to walk into a doctor's office and demand they perform a/an [medical procedure] on you.

It is without question that Fox News is rightwing. And the entire rest of the media is in the tank for the Democrats. The fact that Fox News is dissident news drives the MSM batty. They *thought* they had total control of the media spin until Fox news showed up.

Fox News is the most viewed News network. They have three times the viewers of any other cable news channel. They literally ARE the mainstream media. Fox. They are not dissenters, they are the industrialized mainstream news organ of our time.

I'm not surprised. Clayton Morris, co-host of Fox and Friends on the weekends, is obviously a liberal if you've ever listened to his podcast Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe. Ed Henry, who came from CNN not long ago, is also obviously a liberal. And i'm sure there are tons more at Fox who secretly supports Democrats.

It's a paycheck. You do what you have to do. I worked for an ISP years ago and we knew we had a known pedophile (dude was all over the news) as a customer, and he called up for support. And i did my job. I didn't like it, but i did it.

Well, the Republicans are the ones filling Fox's pockets, sure, but the Democrats are the ones that keep the Republicans filling Fox's pockets. Democrats not in power or at least a viable threat = no more money.

This is not exactly unknown or hard to figure.

toraque: This is actually not very surprising, considering what happened to me last week.

That's about where I lost it.

Why would you need a tug to "tow" a "line"? Seems like any competent deckhand could hump it where it needs to go.

Besides, tugs don't even "tow", they "tug". And they tug "ships" and "barges", not "lines".

This thing "tows":

HeartBurnKid: Jesse Watters waited.

THEN WHO WAS PHONE?!

There's a difference between criticizing Obama based on a policy position and refering to his supporters as mindless, supernatural monsters that only exist in video games, horror films, and horror televistion shows. The latter is just attention-whoring, as Obama's critics continue to vie for the most outrageous thing to say about him and his supporters (and no one will top WND's numerous insinuations that Obama is the anti-Christ). The fact that, as a donor to the Obama campaign, the attention-whore in question might not even believe his own hyperbole, is the hilarious point.
