But, yeah, Ghost Hunters was must-see for my wife and I, but we lost interest after a few seasons. A whole lot of nuthin most of the time, and the payoffs got less and less interesting.

I think it just got worse. I remember it being a very entertaining show - lots of spooky atmosphere stuff.

Although I puld never pinpoint why, I did not like it as much after they left the trailer/office Andover into the storefront. Everything just seemed more staged and scripted after that change. I have not watched it in years but I do remember Brian being nutty way back when they fired (or he quit) the first time.

they conducted an investigation of a house down the street from me a few years back. it was the corniest and stupidest thing i'd ever seen.

I think the storefront is gone now too. It was much better when they did 2 cases per show and they were usually investigating a house or something similar. Now it's always an hour of stumbling around in a dark former mental hospital

I think this show is silly. My friend from Scotland made a good point about this. He and his sister used to go wander around old, run down castles in their area looking for ghosts. You know what they saw? Nothing, and a lot of it.

A recent movie called Grave Encounters is a good watch. It's on Netflix now, and it's about a Ghost Hunters-style crew that go to an old asylum

Those stupid shows where they spend all that time hunting ghosts and find nothing are such a waste of time. Now, on the other hand, those shows where they search for monsters...

Kris doesn't appear on their show any more. The GHI (Ghost Hunters International) spin-off apparently was having problems (i.e. no one was watching) so they sent her to that show. Amy Bruni took over from Kris on GH but she got pregnant late last year and is now stuck at the HQ while taking care of the baby. They've got a couple of other women on the show now (one is Jay's daughter) but nothing really special.

Those who complain the GH show hasn't seen anything interesting lately are right. Lots of "did you hear that" and "well we didn't hear this but this recorder did" kind of things. The night they investigated the old City Jail in Charleston SC was interesting though. I spoke with one of the tour guides down there in October and he said he took them around the building. He didn't say if he saw any of the stuff they claimed they saw though.

Rufus Lee King: You skeptics go ahead and laugh at the concept of ghosts. You didn't see what I saw. I went into my kitchen, and saw three apparitions, one of which was waving its ghastly arms and chanting in a sepulchral voice:

"It floats! IT FLOOOOAAATS!"

Gathering my courage, I asked the specter "WHAT floats?"

The three spirits all turned toward me and said in unison "Ivory Soap!"

I managed to take a photo:

I missed that, what was his farewell tour?
/also ponders if he regrets leaving easy money TV for his own card game company

Basically, every moment of every episode of his last season was anvilled that he was leaving the show.

Haven't watched GH in a while, but I just watched the latest episode of Finding Bigfoot. They were in northern AZ, where I live. I am now terrified because they confirmed, without a shred of evidence, that there are 12 to 14 squatches in the area.

We call them "the Lunkheads".

Going into a house and yelling, calling them "demons", is not going to give you a gracious greeting from the other side.

However, their antics amuse us.

If we have learned nothing else from GH is that ghosts actually wear bright colored running shoes.

Wow why all the hate. It was an OK show when it started, and didnt fall into the "the whole world is haunted and there are ghost EVERYWHERE" theme the others did. We liked that they were going to prove it wasnt a ghost & show what it really was. But yea it did get old.
And also this....

Why do none of these groups ever find a dirty old man ghost. if I were a ghost I be playing grab ass the whole time the "investigators" were around.

It's all nonsense, of course... But I love watching a bunch of Rhodies running around in the dark, scaring themselves and acting like they're doing something important.

And they probably make more money with that nonsense than most of the folks slagging them, so...

GHOST PICTURES THREAD!!!

Here's a picture I took of several ghosts in the basement. You have to look really hard to see them.
i3.photobucket.com

True story! My family's old house was formerly a popular brothel that served at least a couple Presidents of the United States. One afternoon while I was downstairs, I heard a noise and grabbed my camera (because I always expect ghosts instead of burglars) and this is what I saw:
i3.photobucket.com

SCARY picture I took of my cousins. The image in the window wasn't there when I took the picture, and showed up later when I got the pictures developed.

Finally, this is an image of a guy who saw a ghost holding a camera/phone that he used to take pictures of the ghost, but when he posed for this picture he was visited by MORE GHOSTS!!! OMG!!!!!

Actually I don't know why you're so uptight about it. Do you have Fox stock? Futures? A collection of bobbleheads? Lighten up FFS, to quote you. Meanwhile, the TOS does not forbid calling out Fox News for the yellow journalistic POS they are.

Used to watch it all the time with my mom for the first couple seasons. Never liked Brian though, he always annoyed me to no end.

I still find it amusing thinking of one episode from the first season where Grant heard a whistling in the bedroom of a private residence only to find out it was the cat snoring on the bed.

WhippingBoy: Serious question: Would you spend the night alone in an abandoned insane asylum?

Sure. It'd be an old "creepy" building sure, and with a history that makes for good stories - but since there is no such thing as ghosts or the supernatural, the worst that could possibly happen is getting startled by sounds of the building settling.

Of course, I'd also need some kind of incentive to waste an evening there. A bet, cash prize, etc...

Probably not, but I'd be more worried about crazy hobos and farked up teens than I would spooks
