Radak: After I watch yet another M*A*S*H TV rerun, I want quality TV back, because M*A*S*H reminds me it used to exist.
dickfreckle: I finally saw the finale in my 20s. Made it all the way without crying until BJ arranged the rocks. Then I just bawled like a little girl.
Radak: dickfreckle: I finally saw the finale in my 20s. Made it all the way without crying until BJ arranged the rocks. Then I just bawled like a little girl.I only made it as far as the musicians being trucked away. (But yeah, the rocks really get me, too, every time.)Sorry for this little threadjack, subby, but you trod on holy ground.
dickfreckle: Do you remember that one episode where he gave to charity, anonymously? Good stuff.
dickfreckle: Winchester was a welcome addition to the show, despite him being a first-class dick,
GAT_00: Time is the fire in which we burn.
Sybarite: Time is an asterisk.
Mr. Eugenides: A few decades ago, there was a wonderful Nova episode titled "It's About Time" that Peter Ustinov hosted which was excellent and very thought provoking. Enough so that I remember it distictly even though I don't seem to be able to find a reference to it.
Gunny Highway: People hate MASH now?
BKITU: dickfreckle: Winchester was a welcome addition to the show, despite him being a first-class dick,A much better foil for Hawkeye and BJ than Frank -- picking on the retard gets boring after a while. They couldn't knock Winchester's skills or intellect, so they went after his pomposity... which he wore like a badge of honor anyway. His willingness to form temporary alliances with BJ to knock Hawk down a few notches when Hawk got too self-righteous also made for a rich source of conflict where none had existed the first five years of the show. Winchester wasn't a one-dimensional character like Frank, which made for better story telling.
cretinbob: Time is movement through space, as represented my the mathematical formula Distance/Rate=Time. Not particularly exciting, I know.
H31N0US: My favorite CEWIII scene is when he castigated the imprisoned travelling band for making a racket when he was trying to listen to his Mozart, but they thought he was requesting Mozart and broke into one of his pieces. I think it was in the finale.
BKITU: as they rode off to their deaths Best Korea.
BronyMedic: Radak: After I watch yet another M*A*S*H TV rerun, I want quality TV back, because M*A*S*H reminds me it used to exist.THIS. Things like MASH, Emergency!, and the Original Dragnet (before it was a crappy comedy) were what I grew up on, and they were a hell of a lot better than "Must See TV" ever was.The scene where they reveal that Henry Blake died is one of the all time best TV moments, in my opinion.
realmolo: I could never get into MASH. It's so maudlin. And when it's not maudlin, it's corny.
dickfreckle: Winchester's little orchestra
stupiddream: Back in the late 80's when I worked in a video arcade kids would often ask me what time it is because we didn't have a clock much like casinos don't. I would reply, knowing that they should have met their Moms in the mall food court 15 mins ago:Time is in the hidden mechanisms and the internal working of the chronometer. Which does necessarily correspond to the greater celestial movement by which we would normally reckon time. Therefore I hesitate to articulate for I may deviate from the true and normal sense of rectitude. But I will and it is (insert the current time on my Swatch watch). All of this would take about 2 mins and the kid would get more and more confused and anxious./Back when video games were fun//Why yes I have my onion right here///Jeeze I was jerk when I was a working teenager
Angry Buddha: No, time is an invisible force that affects distances, as represented by the formula Rate*Time=Distance. That's why a tree looks closer if you repeatedly blink your eyes.
Ishkur: Time is just movement. If there is no movement, then there is no way to observe change from one position to the next and call the change "time", so without movement, there is no time.
