This is the state of the "deal" that has been bandied about

1) the rich toss in their pocket change
2) Granny and the working poor are further immiserated

All the while, Dems get savaged for raising taxes AND slashing the safety net.

Congressional Republicans are liars and thieves and have less than zero interest in good governance. They cannot be trusted to act in good faith.

Republicans on the verge of a deal, perhaps putting country before party, and the author goes and writes something like this:

"The only thing that stands in the way of a deal now is for the Republicans to recognize that they've already given up on their core principles."

You are everything that's wrong with our country and our political system. Things are getting worse precisely because of idiots like you that insist on "winning" every battle at any and all cost, including (god forbid) compromise and progress.
