So "comeback" is two words now?

A totally legal megaupload? I expect it to do just as well as the totally legal napster.

It's looking like the last one was totally legal too, with the way that case is shaping up.

Karac: A totally legal megaupload? I expect it to do just as well as the totally legal napster.

It's not "a totally legal" MegaUpload they plan; it's a totally risk-free MegaUpload they plan. The idea is that no one can view the uploaded file, not even Mega, except for the uploader and anyone who has the password because it's encrypted on the password. It'll still have the same pay scheme as before.

Though it's not like they're losing the legal battle against Washington/MPAA/RIAA. I expect, in the long run, they'll be found not guilty and win the MegaUpload suits.

Word. I had a lot more respect for the FBI before they became hired goons for the MPAA/RIAA.

It's a good thing that the FBI didn't have any REAL crimes to work on at the time. You know, like crimes that occurred here in the US, and threatened we the people. The feds had some free time, so why not raid a German citizen who committed crimes in Hong Kong and was currently living in New Zealand? So what if a few thousand innocent people had their totally legal files deleted in the process, there was copyright infringement in progress!

Here's an interesting question for ya... why is the next Star Trek movie being advertised on a pirate site? You'd think that the studios would avoid illegal download sites like the plague.

This, basically. All the MegaUpload stupidity proved was that New Zealand's government was happy to serve as the cat's paw for the American government, and that the American government couldn't give a rat's rancid rectum about American, New Zealand, or international law when it comes to backing the MPAA. New Zealand's government officials looked like fools, and it's nice to see that their citizens are pissed at how New Zealand basically broke their own laws solely to please another country.

I'm looking forward to Megabox.

Look Kim, you got lucky that the FBI farked up due process here. We all know what megaupload was and we know you're shady as hell based on your previous business record. I appreciate the middle finger you gave the RIAA/MPAA, but quit while you are ahead.

All points true, but I still hope he succeeds. Because fark the MPAA/RIAA. And their private international police force.

Yeah, weird that Holder didn't care at all about Fast and Furious and handing guns out.

Nah, they look at the gross worth.

You guys realize that if this had gone pear-shaped, every single one of us who ever posted a hotlinked image would also be liable for a $250,000 lawsuit, right?

Or, that if you had saved it to imgur/photobucket/whatever would be considered perpetrating piracy and could be arrested and charged with a felony?

Just thought I might let you know that...

Realistically? No. That wasn't gonna happen.

Not really. While I wish him success in his venture, I still hope he falls face first into a mound of burning glass shards because of his stupid self-inflicted name.

The country exists solely for Lord of the Rings at this point. So, are they balls deep into the MPAA (and related orgs)? Hell yes.

Kim's scum, but not for any piracy he may be invovled in and he's nowhere near as bad as the other guys.

Go go lesser-of-two-evils ranger!

Not just LOTRO or similar. Tons of movies are shot down there, for the scenery and the countries willingness to bend over backwards more than a 2 cent crack whore.
