Fallout Boy: Not a fan of Soundgarden but I am surprised that King Animal didn't make the list.
verbaltoxin: mr.doctor: verbaltoxin: I got Yellow Green by Baroness. I think it was pretty good./Also picked up the new Torche and Sword. The former I've barely listened to, and should give another whirl. The latter is okay.Damn totally forgot about The Sword - Apocryphon. I would also have to put that as one of my favorite albums that have come out this year. For me, Apocryphon isn't much of a progression from Warp Riders. That's why I've had trouble getting into it. Additionally I think their vocalist is incredibly limited and a strong voice would help break up their endless riffing a bit, and give the songs some dynamics./Forgot to mention I also picked up Jonathan Coulton's Artificial Heart this year; I'm not usually a fan of singer-songwriter stuff but his record is pretty good.

TheLopper: kingflower: I have listened to that Frank Ocean album three times and I am having a hard time understanding how this album is on every best album of 2012 list.I listened to him for the first time this week, and I'm still cleaning all the blood off the walls that shot out of my ears.
Rev.K: Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 2012 Album of the Year.[www.thestranger.com image 349x349]Un-f*cking-believable.Clicky pop for Torche awesomeness/happy to see Baroness on that list

SPna15: enderthexenocide: this year was actually pretty weak.My list of 72 great metal albums from 2012 disagrees with you.

Gunny Highway: jaybeezey: Fark music hipsters complaining about PopMatters music hipsters...nice.It is the anti-hipster hipster that you need to watch out for.
kab: FeedTheCollapse: alcest - les voyages de L'AmeStopped by hoping someone would mention this one, leaving happy. If your best of 2012 list excludes this, you have no business writing lists to begin with.
dickfreckle: AdolfOliverPanties: Record reviews are the farking worst:The songs of Preachers sound to bubble up as a miasma from a swamp. Southern Gothic to a T, with all the pathos, depravity, dread and redemption that implies, the record is a dispatch from the squalor of emotional wreckage. Holding court in this landscape is the id of singer Jeff Klein, howling of being, but an animal in a well on the title track...What a pretentious load of pseudo-artsy-quasi-intellectual bullshiat. Makes me want to NOT even bother to listen to the music.Yeah, music writers are among the most useless people in the world. Very few of them are able to write without sounding like colossal douchezillas.
SPna15: But what if I have the superior Les Discrets album instead?
kab: SPna15: But what if I have the superior Les Discrets album instead? You can look at the cd case and see that it was released in '09?:)
Snapper Carr: [upload.wikimedia.org image 300x300]Whar DSO?
