(NPR)   Ten musical artists you'd have been listening to in 2012 if you weren't such a loser. Don't bother starting with them now, though, they'll be old news by the time 2013 hits   (npr.org) divider line 14

EdenLiesObscured: Was hoping they'd mention someone like Pallbearer or Occultation or Leprous or Wodenthrone or drainbow or Moon Duo or ...........

At least 25 people have heard of those bands. Not the 16 family members for the bands they listed.

The bands they listed actually do have a following and have received critical acclaim, but NPR's presentation on new artists tends to leave a bad taste in people's mouths (judging by the responses in this thread.) Of course, sites like Pitchfork seem to raise people's hackles even more (including mine.)

I think the average Farker would rather whine about how terrible music is today than actually discover new music (not directed at you.)

Are we sure that NPR didn't just make these artists up as a practical joke?

I listen to stuff that hasn't even been written yet.

I write my own music so that I'm the only one who ever listens to it and thus you'll never be as hip as me when it comes to musical taste.

I have no idea who any of those people are. I was expecting artists who are actually on the radio somewhere.

Those guys aren't new artists. Did you even read the article? Oh, wait, of course you didn't. This is Fark.

What farkers would be complaining about is that there is not one remotely metal group on there and a lot of it is hipster pop.

OK. Can I be excused from not listening to them if I had never actually heard of any of them?

You've sold out by posting this here for a wide audience. You are now lame for liking yourself.

Is there a web site that lists the bands I should be listening to currently in order to be hip?
