It looks like it has the potential to at least not be completely stupid, but given M. Night Syamalan's recent track record, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and just assume it's terrible.

2012-12-10 01:18:45 PM
The trailers for that stupid "OMG the plants are killing us!" movie made that look like it wouldn't be a total pile of shiat too.

2012-12-10 01:22:11 PM
No.

M. Knight Shyalaman is dead to me. I won't spend another dime on his crap.

Sorry, not a fan of Will Smith, not a fan of M Night.

I won't be seeing "After Earf."

Hopefully the twist will be that it doesn't stink on ice.

"Everything here has evolved to kill humans."

So it's the damned killer plant movie, 1000 years in the future.

Uh oh.....

I love almost anything that's sci-fi/post-apocalyptic but that sure does look awful. I even like several M. Night movies.

2012-12-10 02:17:37 PM
Will it be the first movie of his that I didn't think was crap?

Chances are I'll never know.

Hopefully the twist will be that he's quit making films.

At least he didn't write it. It's not much hope, but it is a glimmer.

Which is going to be the worst post-Apocalypse movie, this or that awful looking Tom Cruise one? That one didn't even look interesting in the trailer.

Good question - I can't really stomach Cruise in anything anymore and Will Smith (and especially his spawn) are rapidly approaching unwatchability for me as well

Hopefully the twist is these trailers contain none of the actors or sequences therein - possibly a plot revolving around the only remaining humans being a amish-like group that sees dead people.

I watched "lady in the water", which was laughably bad. Then, that bastard got me AGAIN with the stupid "Air Hates Humans" shiat.

At this point, if I'm foolish enough to see another movie, I deserve what I get.

Amish-like people who are indestructible, except for a fatal weakness to water pistols.

And their presence in the past creates the conditions that ultimately lead to humanity's destruction which they were fleeing in the first place.

I think we got this one wrapped up.

1. How is this guy still making movies?
2. How did he wrangle one of the top moneymakers into acting in his shiat movie?
3. Seriously

Agreed. Someone want to get the lights? I'm off to watch Unbreakable.

I'd need anything by M Night to have at least three weeks of box office success and glowing reviews before I'd see at this point.

/I remember being in a theater and seeing a preview that talked about "Ground Breaking Directory M. Night Shamal..." and everyone laughed

Hopefully M. Night realized that people are sick of his crappy twists, and that's why he's directing something written by someone else. Any twist they try to include will be tainted by being associated with someone whose movie quality is best plotted by an exponential decay curve.

The aliens were dead the whole time!

2012-12-10 03:57:25 PM
So, seems the trailer is giving away that there's also going to be aliens in this film (saw a brief scene with what appeared to be some sort of flying craft firing at the smiths). Is that going to be the twist? Have they already given the game away? Should I care?

The Village
Signs
...

That's about it. Lady in the Water was ok.

If this does not have the main character named Jason dinAlt and takes place on a heavy world I am going to be pissed.

Poor Will. I don't know where the idea that he said "Welcome to Earf" came from, but it's never going away.

I've maintained for years that "The Happening" is a great concept w/a shiatty execution. That and the fact that the editor seemed to have three endings he couldn't decide on, so he or she just decided to use all three.

Shymalan, in my opinion is beginning to tip the scale against himself. He had three good movies (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs) and then three bad ones (The Village (predictable), Lady In The Water (boring), The Happening (see above) ) and one godawful one (The Last Air...I can't even say the whole title without wanting to throat punch a kitten). I'm always hoping he'll claw his way back to a good one, but this one doesn't look to be it.

If there are no humans on the planet, how has everything evolved to kill them?
