WorldCitizen: Like putting an awful bright yellow bar on the side of your text that makes it nearly impossible for me to read without getting a headache?
BigLuca: That website looks like the year 1995 pinched a loaf on my monitor.
GAT_00: Of course it does. It was built by humans.
ProfessorOhki: Great, an AI that's exactly as dumb as your average human, but without the physical interface to gate the speed at which they can post comments online.
The Stealth Hippopotamus: Does it actually believe that the stripper likes it?!?!
rogue49: Does it's ID do stupid things that it's Ego and Super Ego need to clean up after???Friggin' ID gets me in trouble every time.
MuonNeutrino: That's actually starting to get a bit scary. Sure, it's got a factor of 40,000 fewer neurons, but massively parallel computing will take care of that eventually even if Moore's law does start to break down. Once we've got a brain with an equivalent number of neurons, even if it does only run at a significant time dilation factor, is it alive? Do we have a right to simply flick it on and off, or reset it, or use it for experiments? If it's functionally a simulation of a human brain, just in bits and bytes instead of cell membranes and potentials, does it have the same rights as a human? Are we obligated to free it? This is edging into very deep water, here. I can't decide whether it's more scary or exciting.
yagottabefarkinkiddinme: The simulated brain begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.
