I was excited that Marvel got the rights to Fantastic Four back. Then i read the article and was disappointed it was still Fox. Bad subby

2012-12-09 08:51:49 PM
THis is why Marvel sucks

2012-12-09 08:54:29 PM
Gee, I wonder how the FF got their powers? I really want to know. The Wolverine with bone claws? That is either before he became Weapon X or after Magneto pulled the Adamantiun from him.

2012-12-09 08:58:22 PM
sooo.... they're gonna fark it up even worse this time?

2012-12-09 08:58:57 PM
So, is Jessica Alba's ass going to be in 3d or not?

2012-12-09 09:06:31 PM
Eh, the FF are gay. Not like literally X-Men gay but who cares.

2012-12-09 09:06:44 PM
people like Dr Doom way more than the fantastic four. call the movie Dr. Doom and make him the main character

2012-12-09 09:09:46 PM
They really shouldn't bother doing origin stories for the fantastic four. Anyone who is going to see the movie already knows their origin(If by some improbably event they don't too bad.) Just drop the team down in the negative zone or parallel universe and get going. We really don't need rocket cosmic ray bit. If you absolutely must have something just do a few flash backs.

2012-12-09 09:11:49 PM
Every comic book movie should just be a retelling of the origin story.

2012-12-09 09:14:03 PM
If they get Chiklis back as The Thing, i'll give it a shot, otherwise, nope.avi

2012-12-09 09:14:50 PM
Meh - Fox still has rights - the best we can hope is that it is not as bad as FF2.

2012-12-09 09:16:01 PM
The defnitive Fantastic Four movie was already made -- except it was called "The Incredibles".

2012-12-09 09:16:39 PM
In the comics, Marvel writers have managed to condense the FF origin story into two pages, oh, probably a hundred times.

You could tell the origin story before the opening credits were finished. Then get to the good stuff.

Let Guillermo del Toro have a crack at it.

2012-12-09 09:17:05 PM
I just like that they used an Art Dams FF picture for the story.

Will this one actually have Galactus and not just some space cloud?

If it is a reboot, I hope they don't make the mistake of mixing the FF's origin with Doctor Doom's. At best, show the pre-scarred Doom as Reed's dick classmate from college, and then introduce him properly in the sequel.

One of the best lessons to learn from Nolan is that you don't introduce the hero's main villain in the first movie. Even if you do a good job, you've shot your wad in the beginning, and your next film is stuck trying to hype the B- and C-listers.

2012-12-09 09:34:27 PM
DNRTA but if any Marvel property deserved a proper reboot, it's THIS one.

That is all.

Meh. I was never a big FF fan, but I thought the movies were all right. I thought their comics were weak and formulaic, and I don't see much of a development plan for movies past Doom and Galactus. I'm not meaning to slam the comic for people that love it, but I just never felt that they were well-written, except for Ben Grimm, and Reed is a problem, in that he seems only interested in cosmic science when maybe he should be curing AIDS or cancer or something.

Quantum Apostrophe: If you download a 3D movie, can you print it out?

3D movies are primarily boring, and they say that the subjective feeling of time slows way down when you're bored, so watching 3D movies is almost like extending your life.

That's why I'd love to see a movie based on Nobody get out Alive. One crazed Reed goes through alternative universes killing each one's Reed Richards. Bonus: Galactus, Silver Surfer and The Watcher.

Yeah. Done in one. This is not Marvel Studios. It's another crappy Fox "reimagining" of a Marvel property.

Dear Hollywood Producers,

I see fewer films because of 3D. Not only do a dislike the look of 3D, but I'm not going to pay $18+ for a movie ticket.

Your ticket sales are down every year, so the masses are with me.

P.S.: The TV shows on cable are far more entertaining and complex than anything you put out.

2012-12-09 11:15:39 PM
I guess if the dopes keep rushing to buy tickets for the latest formulaic superhero movie with a mental age of about six, they'll pay for the privilege in 3D, too.

The only good thing about the first two Fantastic Four movies was Chris Evans playing the Human Torch. The rest of those movies were cinematic abortions that are painful to even admit existing.

/although the 'Why does Captain America look like Johnny Storm' jokes never get old...

Get James Gandolfini to play the non rocky Ben Grimm, then stay for his voice and do the Thing in full CG. Anything like that circus peanut costume Chicklas had to wear and this is a no go.

2012-12-10 02:28:34 AM
Eh. Get Ali Larter as Sue Storm and maybe I'll watch.

2012-12-10 02:57:33 AM
The first two really just needed better writing.

You know what would be awesome? An "Eternals" movie. Just take out the Marvel heroes and civil war sub-plot, and just make a story about elder gods and child TV stars with powers and giants killing stuff. That'd be worth seeing. Why keep re-making the same movie over and over again?

ModernLuddite: You know what would be awesome? An "Eternals" movie.

I think our level of Kirby-ness hasn't progressed that far. There was a bit of it in the Thor movie, let them try their hand at some "Negative Zone" stuff in a FF reboot before going all out Eternals or New Gods.

Which is basically what I'd want in an FF movie: inter-dimensional exploration, family-style. Maybe they should go "First Class" and try a retro approach.

/plus Doom, of course (a proper one)
//while we're at it: No "Ultimate" crap at all

Is Peter Parker a super Genius or just a Regular Genius? I actually would like to know cause I heard that he is as smart as Reed Richards and even impressed Prym with his tracking devices when he was a kid.
