Pretty much all of talking heads agree she would be unbeatable. But she insists she doesn't want to run. She's got a couple of years to change her mind.

2012-12-09 03:42:24 PM
that was amusing

/ but i think liz warren is more likely than hillary

2012-12-09 03:43:09 PM
I would be ok with this. I would've voted for her in 2008 had my state not had a late, late primary that essentially made the point of voting moot.

2012-12-09 03:49:32 PM
Ordinarily I wouldn't take Newt's opinion on anything but on the subjects of both screwing and being screwed over the man is an indisputable expert.

Give the man his props.

*blink*

/Would love to see Hillz run and would support her in the attempt but sadly I don't see it happening.

Also, she's got the subliminal George Washington thing working for her.

Not in the least, but I don't particularly want her as Pres.

Right wing Blogosphere:

"ZOMG Hillray murdered Vince Foster to keep him quiet about Monica, The black Helicopters and Obama Bin Laden. Bill Clinton is responsible for 9/11 because he was president when it happened and that's why he didn't get elected"

2012-12-09 03:59:38 PM
If she wants to run, she needs to get a move on. And I think she should. Not only would she be unbeatable, but she'd also actually make a good President.

The only drawback I see is that this would make last year's derp look like a farking marriage proposal. The anti-woman rhetoric has been really outrageous of late - a woman running for POTUS would certainly have to take a great deal of assholery in stride. And a Democrat woman... Wow. The derp would not just go TO 11, it would increase by a FACTOR of 11.

I'm still waiting for the Thousand Years of Darkness promised to me by Chuck Norris. I'm not believing anything the right wing shills say until this comes to pass.

I think that officially kicks in on January 20, 2013

I don't agree, she would be very beatable. I am a strong Democrat and I wouldn't vote for her. I liked Bubba, I think she is razor sharp, but one Clinton was enough.

/Goes without saying that I voted against Bush the Lesser
//I would vote against Chelsea also

Well, she's definitely got plenty of on-the-job experience, moreso than anyone else I can think of.

No, the logical progression is First Black President, first woman president, then first black woman president.

Presuming Michelle Obama runs for the Senate in Illinois in 2016, that should time out just about right.

It'd be worth her running just to watch the lunatics go off the deep end.

Their seizures over a black guy have marginalized the party and driven off normal people. Get a woman in there and it'll be over.

I've never said this before in my life, but I want Newt Gingrich to be right. I'd love to see the gnashing of teeth if Hillary or another like-minded woman wins. There are still people out there who believe that women should not lead groups, as in certain religious groups still condemn women preaching.

I worked for her as an intern back when she was a Senator. Once a week, I had to sit at the front desk and answer phone calls, as well as catch up on the voicemails left overnight. There were definitely people who would call up screaming about how she was a c*nt and should die. Then there was this one old guy from Brooklyn who would call overnight and leave long rambling messages. My favorite went something like this:

"Now, Senatah Clinton, I don't mean no disrespect, but I just think that this country started going downhill when we gave women the right to vote. I know you're thinking now, I know you're thinking, this guy has never had sex with a woman, but Senatah Clinton, I can assure you that's not true."

The machine was set to run against Hillary in 2008. It was primed, and it was loaded for bear. And then Obama got the nod, and suddenly, it was a whole different ballgame. Much of the ammunition that they wanted to use on Hillary is still there. And with folks who still hate her guts just as much now as then.

This is Newt screaming about a brier patch...

This is pretty much what I came in to say. They are going to spend the next 4 years arming their cannons for Clinton. And every step of the way trying to make it seem like they're oh so scared of the unbeatable Hillary.

SO in the general election you would vote against Hillary and for Santorum/Bachman/Nutty #7/whoever the GOP runs??

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
not sure that that is rational
would she make a good president? yes
would she win the nomination? most certainly. would need an incredibly strong candidate to beat her in the primary and there is currently no one even close on the horizon. I would easily pick hillary over warren. Warren is great and all, but hillary as sec of state and a senator now has crazy kinds of experience ...

I like Warren, and I think she'll make a good Senator. Happy to see her on the banking committee. But I don't think she's ready for a national campaign for the top job.

Ture that. Hillz is more qualified for the job of POTUS than anyone the GOP can or will put up in 2016.

Hillary's inability to break through a certain unfavorability rating nationally made me an early believer in the necessity of the Obama campaign over the "inevitability" of the Hillary's campaign back in 2008 and there is certainly a great deal of truth in what you say but things are a little different now. Hillary's enemies are less in number now and her stature as a known and trusted actor on the world stage has increased remarkably. The tactics and rhetoric the GOP had lined up to use on her in 2008 are, indeed, still there but they won't work now the way they maybe might have back then (she still would have won albeit with narrower margins). Whether Newt is cognizant of all this or whether he's just so lazy he doesn't want have to learn new GOP-issued talking points about another candidate are fun points to speculate on here but ultimately moot because she's not going to run.

At this point, she would make an amazing President. As the first female US President, she would set a pretty high bar.

Here is to hoping that Bill, Chelsea and everyone else on the planet can change her mind.

"We" meaning the nation? Or "WE" meaning the Republican party? Because right now the two are PRETTY much completely separate, just like the Repubs keep claiming to want.

yeah, though I generally agree with Newt's reasoning, this does remind me a bit like 2005 when all the Republicans thought Hillary would be that candidate and would definitely win.

I don't know, i've always been a fan of the Aliens stance on small business. I mean they all employ a little guy and sometimes the bigger ones support 2 or 3. We really need to be focusing on small businesses if we want to get out of this recession. Alien 2016!
