I know a lot of people loved Worf, but he was my least favorite character (besides Troy). For the first four seasons he was too much of the stupid alien stock character. Then later on -- especially on DS9 -- they made him way too obsessed with tradition and Klingon culture. As much as I loved DS9, it got to the point that he became a Republican wishing to bring back the glories of 1950s America.

And do Klingons age faster than humans? Because he was like 20 when DS9 rolled along. TV shows seem to do that a lot.

Yeah, that's the other thing I left out. The only way he could have been a worse father is if he beat Alexander, which he probably did off screen.

Alexander was also only a year old when he showed up on TNG. He seemed a tad older than most 1 year old humans.

Great episode. Just watched it the other night on Netflix.

The obsession with tradition and culture makes sense considering what he had gone through with his family name and whether he stood with the Federation or with the Klingons. The Chancellor pretty much called him a traitor and there was an episode of DS9 where he admitted that he'd never even courted an actual Klingon female, so I'd guess the preoccupation with the tradition and culture came from the lack of occupation with it.

Plus, he didn't lose as many fights on DS9.

Actually, I didn't have a problem with that ( and I'm on the "left" side of the political spectrum). IMHO, the Federation seemed pretty spineless on that show.

/ ....except for Section 31. Those guys were downright creepy.

Yeah, that was... a thing. He was eight in show-years (and actual years) when he showed up on DS9 as the Klingon equivalent of a PFC, played by a guy who was 21 at the time. It registered, but I remember thinking--eh, there was probably some kind of crazy time travel mixup. Hell, that specific character had already been visited by his future middle-aged self. Maybe he spent his adolescence backpacking around Europe in the 1960s.

Then again, they had Brian Bonsall, who was (and looked) 10 at the time, play him as a two-year-old on TNG. So... a wizard did it.
