Listen, listen, guys, listen. I'm going to play one riff the entire song. No listen guys. Listen. I'm going to play one riff the entire song and people will pay millions.

She wanted to bone the drummer?

2012-12-09 11:46:49 AM
I've always assumed she has asperger's or something.

I liked the White Stripes. Not my favorite band, but way above average, at least for me.

2012-12-09 11:57:19 AM
She also thought that the drummer had a nice rack?

She was right.

You assume too much, subby, and when you assume, you make an ass out of you.

Not me. You.

I liked the songs where Meg got to sing the best.

2012-12-09 12:06:14 PM
Fortunately, her interest was pretty irrelevant.

Your favorite band sucks. They're no Justin Bieber.

You know, Meg White is cute and all, but the White Stripes had to have had one of the greatest disparities between the talent of its two members ever. I mean, Oates contributed more to Hall & Oates.

And then he shaved the 'stache...which is like Meg getting breast reduction surgery.

Shut up, Meg?

I couldn't agree more. You can hear the disparity. He would've been better off with a drum machine.

I think she's a great drummer.

She keeps a beat.  No need for 10,000-piece all the gongs in the over-kill kit wankery.

The minimalism fits the White Stripes sound perfectly IMHO.

Jack White argued that Meg White is what made White Stripes what it was. Because Jack White had to play around the limitations of Meg White, the band achieved a style that would never be there with a more proficient drummer. Like in all artistic endeavor, constraints make you more creative.

She's a terrible drummer, but all in all her terribleness was fine for the gritty, minimalist White Stripes "sound". Keep the same songs but someone competent behind the kit, and they wouldn't sound "better" imho, just different.

/I like The Raconteurs more. Still not sure what to make of The Dead Weather.

Translation: "Meg's mediocre drumming makes me look like Muddy Waters by comparison. And she has an awesome rack."

I love The White Stripes. I don't care how talented Meg is because it works. I like The Raconteurs, not as much though. And I'm not big on the Dead Weather, which is odd because I do like the Kills.

The White Stripes were a pretty good band, nothing groundbreaking or extraordinary, but it's good music, fun to listen to. As far as minimalism goes though, it's doubtful that anybody will ever top what Morphine did.

Really, she doesn't. I mean, it's ok to not have the meter of a click-track, but she really did sound like any kid who has played drums for 3 weeks and then just stayed that way.
Kit pieces has nothing to do with it.

There's a blues/punk duo named The Pack A.D. from Vancouver. I've played them for people, been asked if it was The White Stripes and had to tell them no, because there's a bit more drumming going on and also, that's a chick singing.

The Pack A.D. - Sirens

The Pack A.D. - Crazy - yeah, this one is probably NSFW

Yet, in the context of The White Stripes, it worked perfectly and that's all that matters.

I hadn't really listened to anything Jack White had done until I saw him and his all female and male bands on Later...with Jools Holland. I was impressed. Not sure what the recordings sound like, but live, it had good energy.

I always found them kind of meh, but then I never really gave them a chance. When some magazine or website claimed Jack White was one of the greatest guitar players to ever live I was pretty floored by that claim because nothing he's ever done has stood out for me. I did a bit of searching to see if I could find him demonstrating this skill and I came up short. Perhaps a farker can point me to something that supports the claim.

I agree. Her drumming is part of what made the White Stripes different and special. Who cares if she wasn't Neil Peart. It was rockin' and minimalistic. It's about what you DON'T play v.s. what you do, just like in jazz.

also,
this is relevant and very spot on:

I had a bit more respect for him after watching It Might Get Loud. Granted, he was still seriously outclassed by the other two, but he held his own pretty well.

No no no! Less is not more, more is more, and all guitarists should aspire to play like Yngwie Malmsteen!

Can't you both be right and complete gibbering morons at the same time?

Also, wow. Those're huge. I thought that big breasts like that were supposed to be pretty painful to tote around all day without a bra on, or at least female friends have said, but she seems happy to just freeball it everywhere.
