The 23rd James Bond actioner even has a shot of outgrossing domestically the Twilight Saga finale

That would be sweet.

I'd be more than okay with that.

It's not an action film so it won't have rewatchability THAT way, but I liked Dear Frankie, myself.

I watch RocknRolla every couple of months. If you liked Snatch or Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, you'll like it.

From the IMDB:

"Nine-year-old Frankie and his single mum Lizzie have been on the move ever since Frankie can remember, most recently arriving in a seaside Scottish town. Wanting to protect her deaf son from the truth that they've run away from his father, Lizzie has invented a story that he is away at sea on the HMS Accra. Every few weeks, Lizzie writes Frankie a make-believe letter from his father, telling of his adventures in exotic lands. As Frankie tracks the ship's progress around the globe, he discovers that it is due to dock in his hometown. With the real HMS Accra arriving in only a fortnight, Lizzie must choose between telling Frankie the truth or finding the perfect stranger to play Frankie's father for just one day."

Really good stuff, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Gerard Butler's "Gamer" was possibly one of the worst movies I've ever watched. Certainly the worst big-budget movie.

Yes, worse. I only watched it to see if Michael C. Hall could act in a different role.

You've come to expect a higher level of quality from the people responsible for Crank 2: High Voltage.

I didn't see it. I'm not a huge movie guy, but I do like movies...so I don't see lots of movies that come out. That said, I can't recall hating a movie as much as Gamer in a long time.

Didn't see that either. But I can enjoy a Jason Statham flick. Well, Transporter series anyway. Absurd, but fun.

See, the first Crank was okay. It was acceptable; you got what you came to see. Nothing special.

Crank 2 is out-and-out insane, but in a GOOD way. It's like the illegitimate child of Commando and Evil Dead 2. Highly recommended.

One of the few movies I really wanted to see. It didn't come to my town. It must be too high-brow for the troglodytes around here. But if you want to see the latest cartoon in 3D, don't rush. It'll be playing for the next five weeks.

Crank 2 is farking amazing. The kaiju scene was when I realized I utterly loved that movie. After I checked several times to make sure I wasn't imagining it.

YES

I can't really talk about it in-depth without ruining it, but the movie has a gleefully high WTF-to-minutes ratio.

They better do a third movie, is all I'm sayin'.

You'll either find it to be an interesting little film or some treacly manipulative bullcrap.

Either way, good times.

Well he was Dracula in Dracula 2000 and didn't make 7 of 9 get naked. I would call that an act of terrorism.

Seeing as this is turning into a general movie thread, has anyone seen Killing Them Softly? It looks decent, but received some mediocre reviews. I have a lot of time off to kill before the new year begins, and seeing a movie or two would give me something to do.

Also, Skyfall was excellent.

I liked Skyfall. Killing Them Softly was slow, boring, preachy. I will be going to see Django Unchained, in hopes of washing away the bad taste Killing left in my mouth.

Can't seem to find the article (I read it a few weeks ago) but the jist was that it was going to be too hard to bring back the cast. I'm guessing they're talking about Hardy, Newton, Elba and Wilkinson. I would love to see a sequel as well. Here's the most recent article I could find but it's from a year ago. It says there's a script but some concerns. I'm on my phone so can't link.

I watched Brokeback Mountain for the first time last night. Wife loved it. For me, the film was slow, disjointed and I wound hating every character in the movie, even the wives.

Argo was excellent. Stylistic, thrilling, funny. It's an excellent little film. Life of Pi was also great. One of the most beautiful films I've seen in a long time. It's worth it to see it in 3-D.

Less general appeal than an action-movie or a long-running franchise? I mean, I'm not saying it's a bad film, it was pretty good, but PG-13 action movies are the kind of thing you can take the whole family to, and they'll all get it more or less.

//Same deal with Killing them softly. good movie, not for everyone like bond is.
