It's not even that. Capcom's endorsing a Fan Project.

And it's FREE.

Holy crap and it's free too. What the hell is capcom unity? I'll install the game but I'm not installing yet another company's little program to sit in my tray. I don't even like steam sitting there, you can imagine how I feel about EA's origin.

This is good. However they shouldn't stop there. They should drag in other capcom games like bionic commando and Strider from the NES.

All I want is for Mega Man to steal the Street Fighters' powers.

Mega Man doing M. Bison's Psycho Crusher (or Flaming Torpedo, as it used to be known to EGM) would be worth admission alone.

They didn't hate Mega Man - MML 2 and MMX 8 sold like shiat and they scrapped the dev teams to go work on Street Fighter IV. After they were done with that they decided to do MM9 and MM10.

Well, it's sorta both. they ARE pissed at Inafune still, I think, for A) Leaving Capcom, and B) Calling out the issues up top at Capcom and in the Japanese gaming industry as a whole.

And since Megaman was basically his baby...

Nope, not believing them. MML2 and MMX8 did reasonably well, as did Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X. Plus games that have done complete ass in sales have gotten sequels before. MML3 had a massive online campaign to be made, and Capcom just up and canceled it while citing "no support" as the reason. Mega Man is one of their cash cow franchises, and Capcom is strangling the golden goose.

It's spite and anger, pure and simple.

You guys do realize that we'll likely never see a continuation of the Mega Man X story, since Mega Man Zero and Later Mega Man ZX have already wrapped up that continuity, right?

Even worse, one of Capcom's reps went on Twitter and practically blamed the fans for not supporting the game enough, even though fans gathered over half a million signatures begging Capcom to finish MML3.

X6, X7, X8, and Command Mission are part of the canon and were being made while the Zero series was still going. Zero's ending in X6, where he seals himself away to purge the Wily Virus, happens long after whenever the X series finally ends, with the Elf Wars happening a while after that, and then the Zero series long after that. Basically, if they do make an X9, it'll happen in that nebulous time between Command Mission and Zero's X6 ending.

Let's not forget, as well, that the Classic Series continued after the X series had begun, and Light and Wily finished and sealed X and Zero in the nebulous time between the end of the Classic Series (whenever that happens) and the start of the X series, the only solid point is that X and Zero were sealed for 100 years.

I've always had a story in my head for a game that would bridge the gap between original Mega Man and X, while making a fitting end to the original series.

Dr. Wily discovers that the Robo-enza he contracted at the end of MM10 has mutated and is slowly killing him. He tries downloading his mind into a robot, but they're not advanced enough to retain his mind. Then he finds out that Dr. Light is developing a more advanced robot capable of storing his mind, and decides to go for a "do or die" mission: Steal the new prototype and save himself, or failing that, kill Dr. Light and destroy Mega Man in a blaze of glory.

Dr. Wily rebuilds some of his deadliest robots from the past MM games and sets them out to find the prototype and kill Mega Man. While MM is distracted fighting them, Wily breaks into Light's lab and steals the new robot and kidnaps Light and Roll. Mega Man goes to Wily's base to get them back.

When you finally find Wily, he is halfway through the process of downloading his mind in the new robot. Mega Man fights Wily, but Wily, using cybernetics to keep his dying body intact, can copy the powers of all his past Robot Masters. In the end, MM defeats Wily before the process is finished, but ends up too severely damaged to be repaired and Wily finally dies from the mutated Robo-Enza.

Dr. Light decides to put the prototype in storage, since he's afraid of it being corrupted by Wily, but refuses to erase it since it contains what is left of his former friend. Light then uses the remains of MM and creates Mega Man X. Unfortunately, the diagnostics to repair and reboot MM in the new body will take decades, so Dr. Light also puts in X storage with the prototype, now called "Zero", his designation number.

During the decades in storage, the remainder of Wily's consciousness, combined with the Robo-Enza virus, mutates into what will become the "Sigma Virus", which will later get transferred from Zero to Sigma....

If Capcom really wants to rehash a franchise, make a new Viewtiful Joe game. The first one was amazing, unfortunately the sequel sucked and the franchise died a way too early death.

The Article: Street Fighter X Mega Man was announced during the 25th Anniversary finals today and pits the blue bomber up against eight popular Street Fighter characters like Blanka, Ryu, Chun Li, Rose, Dhalsim and Rolento.

Who the fark is "Rolento?" How is he/she/whatever a "popular" StreetFighter Character? How is Guile not on that list?

While this is nice, I'm still waiting for Rockman ZX 3 and Rockman Dash 3. They won't happen due to bad sales, though. =(

I'd also like Capcom to make a Breath of Fire 6, but considering the disaster that was 5, that also looks very unlikely.

He was a villain from Capcom's Final Fight games.

He later appeared in the second and third Street Fighter Alpha games as well as Street Fighter X Tekken.
