I still get Linked-in messages from a good friend who was murdered two years ago.

I don't even use Linked-in

My friend who died recently just "resigned" from a Words With Friends game we had going. That was a nice little gut punch when I was just starting to feel better.

I just watched a bunch of people post birthday messages to a dead guy a couple of days ago.

A girl I went to HS with died in 1998. She and my sister were pretty good friends so I knew her pretty well. Her sister started a memorial page for her on FB a couple years ago. Every few months I get a friend request from Amy _____ with her senior pic as profile. Creeps me the fark out.

2012-12-09 09:00:46 AM
You "Like" Target two years later. That was strange to see.

2012-12-09 09:01:48 AM
My sister posts a memorial message to my dad's facebook page every year on his birthday. I think the whole thing is weird, but whatever helps her out. I'd have removed the page.

True story: I found out last week that a college friend of mine died in 2008.

When I signed up for Facebook in 2009, he was one of the first people I friended. I noticed there was no activity on his wall, but I figured he was going through one of his phases where he'd deleted everything.

A couple months later, I noticed he's unfriended me. All I can think is that his mother (who never liked me) is maintaining his account and doing occasional groundskeeping.

Or his taste in friends changed after he died.

Well, that was the thing: when he dropped me we hadn't spoken in three years or so at that point. I think the last time we talked was the night Hunter Thompson killed himself.

Well, if your profile is a Christian it ascends to heaven, and gets to hang out with Steve Jobs, and that one douchebag you get when you make a facebook profile as a friend.

If your profile is NOT a Christian, it burns in a lake of fire for all eternity.

It's not about Christian or non-, BronyMedic, it's whether you believe in the One True Cylon God and are pseudo-resurrected in the mainframe where your digital "soul" gets to live in virtual perpetuity until uploaded into a new body (or bodies).

I had a manager at my job who was also a tattoo artist. I had gotten to meet Weird Al Yankovic after a concert and Al had autographed my arm. My boss tattooed it on for me.

A couple of weeks ago, I met David Blaine. He also autographed my arm. I thought I'd look up my old boss on Facebook as he would get a kick out of that. I found his memorial page instead. He had died about four years ago.

Nah, I plan on passing down my handle when I am too old to troll anymore.... Oldiron had grown so rich, he wanted to retire. He took me to his cabin and he told me his secret. 'I am not the Dread Troll Oldiron he said. 'My name is Ryan; I inherited the handle from the previous Dread Pirate Troll Oldiron, just as you will inherit it from me. The man I inherited it from is not the real Dread Troll Oldiron either. His name was Cummerbund. The real Oldiron has been retired 15 years and living like a king in Patagonia

I would hope that the people in my life would know enough so that one of them would log in and maintain the page for a while, speaking from my perspective beyond the grave and keeping everyone generally entertained/offended.

I had to defriend 2 people that passed away. It was really was wierd to get ones Horoscopes and Target likes. I looked up the last convo we had. reminiced for a moment and then unfriended. It was actually a pretty sad day.

When my father-in-law died in September, his family couldn't figure out how to log-in to his laptop to sign-out of Facebook. They could just keep the thing charged until they could reset the thing. For two weeks, when I logged in to Facebook, it would tel me "Dave is online." It was creepy as hell.

A thought that never changes
Remains a stupid lie
It's never been quite the same
No hearing or breathing
No movement, no colors
Just silence

Rise and fall of shame
A search that shall remain
We asked you what you'd seen
You said you didn't care

Sound formed in a vacuum
May seem a waste of time
It's always been just the same
No hearing or breathing
No movement no lyrics
Just nothing

The sign that leads the way
The path we can not take
You've caught me at a bad time
So why don't you piss off -YSF, NO

Wait, if he died in 08 and you friended him in 09, who accepted your request? Was it the mom, checking who you are, making sure before she unfriended you? Or is it simple mistyping? The public has a right to know!

My weird dead friend FB story was when I first signed up I found a friend who I had lost touch with 20 or so years before and sent a request:" Hey, great to see you are still around, let's catch up!"
The response was from his wife: "Oh he died several years ago, we just maintain the page, do you have any old pictures of him from when you were younger? We don't have many to show the kids." and then the long sob story about how it took a couple of years for him to die and how hard it was.

It was awful.

One friend made a page for his cat and his cat asked to be my friend but I'm not going to start friending animals, so that invite sat there for months. Then one day I thought of something cruelly sarcastic that needed to be said to that cat so I went to friend it but I checked my friend's page first and he was all sad because his cat died that weekend. Disaster averted!

/he's not the kind of guy makes a cat page due to his gay love for cats. He was just being annoying.

Your sister posts pictures of her new vanity plate that says "luvunameofdeadguy" Or her creepy new tattoo memorializing him? It wasn't a portrait, but it was still a little bit weird.

although most of the posting on my friend's page was not as weird. Mainly pictures of everyone drinking with him and posting "carpe scrotum."
