Manny looked a lot slower and weaker in this bout then I remember him from his last fight.
He and Mayweather will retire. are both their "legacies" tarnished for not facing each other?

How my brother described the final punch:

It was what they call the "I beat this guy at least two other times already and he's the one who became the big star, even though I manned up and fought Floyd and also Mexicans despise Filipinos" punch.

This is why mayweather should never have ducked manny. He would have beaten him soundly. Shame.

Hard to screw that one up, ringside judges.

Did the judges award this fight to Bradley too?

I can't remember a nastier looking direct punch being landed on a guy. Damn near tore his head off with that shot.

Manny was clearly dominating the fight and had a boxer's momentary lapse of concentration at the end of a round, he was out of position and had let his defense drop. That is a recipe for disaster and one he doesn't make against an opponent he has never fought let alone beaten before.

Possible fight of the year?

Fight, round (5), and knockout of the year, easy, and probably fighter (Marquez) of the year.

And I look forward to #5 in may.

Pacquiao is still the best fighter in his weight class, regardless of the fact he's lost his last two fights. Manny wasn't getting beat in this fight, he got caught with a devastating punch that would have floored anybody. The loss prior to this was on a split decision. All this talk about him being washed up is farking crazy.

Nah, I disagree. He looked just as fierce as always, and still quick as hell, although his punch resistance might be Cotto'ing. Look for a rematch w/Marquez in May, and if he wins that, Floyd and Manny fight in either September or December.

He didn't look any slower. As a matter of fact I saw the best Manny that I have seen in a long time; he was fast, powerful, and very aggressive. He takes the luxury to get out of position for his attack's sake often because his quickness allows him to do that, but he was facing a great counterpuncher that timed him just right and caught him out of position.

Great night for boxing and you just have to feel happy for Marquez, about 9 years of frustration taken out in a single punch. Talk about stress relief.

One thing you dont want to do is give a counter puncher too many chances. at it appears the 4th fight finally gave him that "look" he was waiting for.

This exactly. I'm about as big a Pacquiao fan as anyone this side of Manila, but as a fan of boxing, I loved the result of this fight. This is old school stuff we're witnessing here.

Manny looked really good early. The first knock down seemed to slow his left hand down quite a bit. But, after he got through the rest of that round, he seemed to come back with the drive to win the fight. I'm pretty sure he had the fifth and sixth rounds won. Then, he just took two seconds to check out figuring the round was over. Game over.

Well, PEDs clearly work but I assume you're implying that they were used by Marquez. In that case, are you familiar with the Nonito Donaire/ Victor Conte relationship?

I know, I probably misstated it but some can get used to a fighters tendencies and get a little sloppy, basically off his guard. From the last few rounds its crazy this would have happened since it looked like Marquez didn't have much left, sounds like a mental lapse and it cost Manny.

But then again maybe this will just lead to a bigger fight/payday with the winner fighting mayweather.

Donaire is the only athlete in the world under 24/7/365 VADA testing. Marquez works with Memo. Just stop.

they were actually boxing. i was just as surprised as everyone else. when they were exchanging blows even lampley exclaimed, 'and then a fight broke out!'

if marquez didnt hit those two huge rights, he wouldve lost to the conservative dancing and lefts of manny.

I'm not even going to get into how idiotic that logical progression is. Marquez has been more than willing to submit himself to blood tests. The point of this is, do not shiat on the man's parade and stop trying to diminish his work/career. If you knew anything about his preparation you would know that it was a longer training camp than usual, and he had access to a plethora of equipment this time around as opposed to the usual Romanza improvised bs. I know this first hand. Also, if he was juicing do you think he would be as outspoken about Memo as he is?

I'm not absolutely ruling out the possibility, but I have no evidence to support any claims or to imply anything. See how evidence works?

Ummm... yeah... thats what boxing is... If the other guy knocks you out, that means you lost.

Indeed. I wanted Manny to win, but he clearly lost in all the ways you can lose. I fought a guy in November and he went around acting like he won because he was rocking me in the first round. But there were two more rounds to fight and I took them both without any trouble. All that matters is what happens in the end.

Yep, no one gives a fark about boxing due to PPV.

This is why you NEVER let your guard down UNTIL THE BELL SOUNDS FOR THE END OF THE ROUND! Seriously, you give ANY opponent that split-second to land a good punch because you got sloppy for 1/2 a second, you deserve to get KTFO.

Yep. In MMA, they always say never leave it to the judges. Same principle applies in boxing. Marquez didn't leave it to the judges.

I guess it shouldn't have been surprising that it was a big-time action fight and ended with a KO -- Marquez got dicked by the judges in the last Pacquiao fight, and Pac got dicked by the judges in his last fight as well. Recipe for two guys trying to not leave it in the hands of the judges this time.

Manny's KO shot on Hatton was pretty comparable to yesterday's KO. One huge punch late in the round that truly KO'd the guy. Added bonus if you get the right angle on Manny's KO: Jay-Z's reaction in the background.
