Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko and Thomas Mapother ,Jr ?

Eh, I'll give it a shot.

/Titty Detritus sprinkles.

2012-12-08 11:47:58 PM
Does it have anything to do with the video game series?

*clicks*

Crap.

Meh, Morgan Freeman looks pretty good in it.

/Files under maybe.

2012-12-08 11:49:36 PM
WHAR XENU, WHAR???

2012-12-08 11:53:54 PM
It's like...five different classic movie story lines mashed together for no farking reason.

2012-12-08 11:56:42 PM
I'm willing to watch it and be disappointed.

2012-12-09 12:04:56 AM
It's release date is within a month of the next Star Trek Movie and Iron Man 3. It will be clobbered a he box office.

2012-12-09 02:55:37 AM
WALL-E comparison is funny, but it looks pretty good to me.

2012-12-09 02:56:06 AM
Yeah, but who plays Martin Septim?

2012-12-09 03:00:45 AM

shower_in_my_socks: WALL-E comparison is funny, but it looks pretty good to me.

It might be fun to watch. Way too many sterotypes in one trailer, though. I can't see it being a classic.

2012-12-09 04:14:08 AM
The good news is, after watching the trailer you know all the major plot points and twists.

2012-12-09 04:22:20 AM
I'll just wait on the book.

2012-12-09 06:07:34 AM
Every mechanical thing in that trailer looks like an Apple product.
"Come fly with Tom Cruise in the new iplane!"

2012-12-09 06:35:02 AM
Is Tom going to be the carefree tough guy with a heart of gold again?

2012-12-09 06:40:38 AM
I want to hate Cruise, because he's nuttier than squirrel poop, but he's a pretty good actor and makes a pretty damn entertaining action film. The fact he apparently has an anti aging gene (or a portrait of an old man in his attic) makes him still viable for the role, so hey.

I'll watch it.

2012-12-09 06:55:40 AM
I think the only time Tom Cruise hasn't broken me out of a movie was in Tropic Thunder when I couldn't even tell it was him until the end

2012-12-09 06:59:21 AM
Not ONE person took an arrow to the knee in that trailer.

Perhaps it'll be in the sequel...

2012-12-09 07:26:30 AM
So tired of Tom Cruise

very loud!

2012-12-09 07:43:15 AM
Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a chick with an annoying as shiat English accent yapping away should be fired.. Nothing more annoying then that accent in dramatic roles reciting stereotypical overly dramatic Hollywood action flick lines.

I also can't take Tom Cruise seriously in that stupid suite and the Tyco gun.

2012-12-09 07:52:35 AM
Well it's not a sequel, prequel, re-imagining, re-boot or comic book movie. Sadly, that's enough to earn my money nowadays.

April release though, they're not too confident with it.

2012-12-09 07:54:12 AM
Morrowwind was better

2012-12-09 07:59:40 AM
Wow, that trailer ruined the entire movie. Now it's obvious that Tom Cruise is somehow working with the aliens or may be the "1%" humans who got to escape. Why did I watch that.

Apos: Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko and Thomas Mapother ,Jr ?

That's Thomas Cruise Mapother IV to you!

/It'd be funny if he legally added "Esquire" to the end. It's always funny when you hear a long name with "Esquire" tacked on
//Still not sure what an "esquire" is, though. I know it has something to do with practicing law in the U.S., but in the U.K. it means something different. I tried to grok the Wikipedia article and got a headache

2012-12-09 08:09:08 AM
Looks awesome.

2012-12-09 08:14:22 AM
...oh, it is based on a comic book. Well not a well known comic book anyway. There's nothing wrong with a movie having source material. It's not yet another Superman is what I was saying.

2012-12-09 08:14:55 AM
Looks good to me.

2012-12-09 08:25:55 AM
looks okay to me

2012-12-09 08:31:19 AM
Heh, yeah, it does look like Wall-E at the start.

I don't think I've ever seen a Tom Cruise movie in the theater.. but that one might, just might, change that.

2012-12-09 08:32:11 AM
The trailer sucks donkey balls.

So will the movie.

/ Needs kissing scene with John Travolta cameo.

2012-12-09 08:34:51 AM

RocketRay: Looks good to me.

Meh. I'll wait for it to be available free at the library.

I'll pay the cash to see the new Star Trek movie in theaters, and I'll rent Iron Man 3 as soon as it hits DVD, but I'll be damned if I spend a red cent on anything that Tom Cruise is in. Still, It's science fiction, so I'll waste couple hours being disappointed.

2012-12-09 08:43:30 AM
It looks like it could have been a good movie without Tom Cruise.

2012-12-09 08:45:33 AM

styckx: Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a chick with an annoying as shiat English accent yapping away should be fired.

Because the US accent is so elequent. Amirite?

2012-12-09 08:54:23 AM
Meh, wasn't this an episode of The Outer Limits (or several)? Where the humans were at war with aliens that turn out to actually be other humans? I don't hold out a lot of hope for anything Disney is putting out given their track record for making something that appeals to the broadest audience while being devoid of any original thought.

My money is on this being a flop.

Or that other Outer Limits episode where the humans are forced to work for their human overlords who turn out to be robots left by Aliens.

Came here to say this. Seemed like the whole plot was given away in that trailer. Ugh.

And Morgan Freeman trains him in a stirring montage. Before he dies.

Jack Reacher in space?

2012-12-09 09:23:59 AM
It's sci fi so I'll probably give it a watch. Probably wait for it on blu ray though.

Anyone else find it funny that TC started doing sci fi movies after he joined that nutty cult?

2012-12-09 09:24:31 AM
Pretty women, sci fi, Morgan Freeman? I'm there.

/loved the diving-inspired way the retro shuttle-plane-pod-thing left its landing pad.

I'm in. :-)

I used to watch Tom Cruise movies, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Tom Cruise is actually working for the aliens who have tricked him into thinking he is working for the humans.

what a twist!

Does NOT approve.

I might go see it. Tom Cruise is one of those actors who I don't care how crazy he is, I can put that aside and just be entertained. Not like Sean Penn who is an amazing actor but his love for murderous third world dictators means I will never pay one copper Abe Lincoln to see his movies.

Just do what I did when War of the Worlds came out. Buy a ticket for another movie and go in.

Supporting murderous third world dictators: bad.
Supporting a murderous cult: groovy.

Got it. What OT level are you?

Watchmen was released in March. Late March / early April is the new May, mainly for big budget non-sequel, non-reboot fare. Now, if it was February, I'd agree with you.

Also, Hunger Games was March I believe. That did ok in the box office too.

Yeah, no thanks.
