The stupid elephants were too busy sucking their own trunks.

It was. Later it was renamed after a dead rich lady.

I hope they give the kid a lifetime membership.

Got it. Yes, names of dead rich ladies do have a particular ring to them, especially when they're in the signature field of a check with many zeroes.

Cool. I'd be honored to be involved with helping a woman give birth. I'd only hope to have the presence of mind to ask others to run for a bag, knife or scissors and string to tie off and cut the umbilical cord while preserving the placenta.

I'll say.

A woman gave birth on a wildlife path at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse on Friday, delivering her baby girl with the help of zookeepers not far from the bear exhibit.

I don't know. Perhaps it's because they were near the bear exhibit. If it had happened in the aviary, it could have brought tears to our eyes.

Just didn't wanna pay for the ride to St Joe's or the OB.
Lived in Syr for years. Know the folks though.

As a kid in New Jersey, family friends had seven boys. All of them named after the beat cop that delivered them.
Conan, Brendan, Sean, Fergus on and on.
Wouldn't pay for the delivery

Heh, nice. Yes, much work was done and it is now quite a pleasant little zoo, as zoos go. They do excellent extra programming, for grownups as well as kids. Brew at the Zoo always sells out, and we went to a neat Zoo's Blues evening. Blues music and a picnic dinner in amongst the animals at sunset. Quite neat, really.

The parents are going to have a great "warp the kid for life" answer for when the kid gets old enough to ask where babies come from.
