He could play for the Jets since their QB sucks.

I guess they really hate Tebow.

QBs in the CFL are required to pass the ball a lot. Passing is not Tebow's strong suit. Well, passing the ball to a spot where it can caught anyway.

He has a few broken ribs. He can't play anyway.

The problem with Tebow is that you shouldn't sign him unless you are going to start him, because having him on your team leads to an instant QB controversy. But the problem is that I just don't believe he is suited to be more than a serviceable NFL quarterback.

Oh, you may point to what he did in Denver last year, but I would then ask you this: if he was so awesome in Denver, why did they run out to get Manning?

I'm no Tebow fan but that article was like "Tebow is kinda terrible, he doesn't know he's terrible, but Tebow's terrible and he'll remain terrible in his terribleness for being terrible wherever he goes to be terrible. Oh also here are three teams with good QBs he could back up for 10 years. Because he's terrible."

Don't the Buts have to eat a fair amount of cash if they cut him? Butt-fumble I know is owed at least $8 million guaranteed next year as well.

I don't see that in there at all. It paints a realistic picture of how he still needs to learn the position and never really had the chance to due to the upheaval of coaching staffs, the learning issues he has, and his personal stubbornness with some early success. Tebow still has two years left on his rookie deal, so it could be very beneficial for him to go to a team that's not dysfunctional and have the chance to learn the game.

I think a good fit for him would be in San Francisco next year. I assume they're going to get rid of Alex Smith, so he could back up Kaepernick. Harbaugh and his staff has already shown they're great at building quarterbacks, and he's headstrong enough to not care about any QB controversy.

I agree with Cole in that if he goes to a place like Jacksonville and falls on his face as a starter, he'll be done as a QB in the NFL.

2012-12-08 11:42:28 AM
He needs to just understand that he would be better suited to WR or RB in the NFL. Once he gets that in his mind, the Patriots would love to have him.

2012-12-08 11:43:56 AM
Jacksonville can't afford for him to come there and fall on his face as a starter. They have to start winning. I really hope Khan doesn't decide to go after him again.

Sure, lots of teams could use help on special teams. But those positions usually go to younger players that you hope to one day start. Tebow need not apply.

IIRC, the Jets owe Tebow $2.5 million guaranteed. I think the Broncos still owe him $2.5 mill, as well, unless they've already paid it. As a Bronco fan, whatever, the Broncos screwed up by overdrafting him and you gotta pay for your mistakes. We are pretty much thrilled with how things have worked out.

2012-12-08 11:58:35 AM
Tebow is the personification of the difference between college and pros. It's a huge leap, not a tiny step, and as a QB if you don't have the ability to read defenses at the line of scrimmage and possess basic fundamentals then you shouldn't even be drafted for that position. Tebow would have been cut or moved to TE/FB (certainly not drafted #1) by any other NFL staff but because McDaniels' ego invested so much cheddar in him he got to go the QB route. There he was so effective he eventually forced the Broncos OC to blow up the offense completely to fit Tebow's actual skillsets. Result: 2-10 passes per game, 13(ish) points scored per game and a freakishly heavy reliance on the Broncos' defense to bail out the flailing offense and get some forehead-slapping, never-again-happen-in-a-million-years type of victories. Marion Barber deserves a Xmas card from the Broncos for this as well.

But you all know this. Apologies for coming off as a douche but as a Bronco fan he needs to be exorcised once and for all from our collective Linda Blair. With PFM, I think we're there now. Tebow is a nice kid, but in the era of superior QB play in order to win championships it's laughable to think he can complete with Brady, Rodgers, Manning(s), Brees, etc.

DRTFA.

The only way that's going to happen is if teams stop winning with him on the field and teams stop losing with him on the bench. Which has yet to happen.

He's gonna end up in either Kansas City or Arizona. I can feel it. :-(

Speaking of Tebow, has anybody checked out this week's Carl video? It's the usual barrage of Tebow and Andy Reid suck jokes, but it does give us this:

"The Jags (know about replacements)- they replaced Blaine Gabbert with someone who actually uses the forward pass."

2012-12-08 12:10:35 PM
Tebow would be a great CFL QB, but his ego won't let him go there. He's priced himself out of that market. But he could do like Flutie or Warren Moon - spend 4 or 5 years in the CFL building your rep then come back to the NFL. The CFL's wider and longer field is made for Tebow's style.

Who knows, no one has played him or gave him the chance to see what he can do.
The guy won a national championship in college, and while that is no indicator of NFL success,
Cam Newton appears serviceable. Then again, the Panthers actually let him play going from 2-14 in 2010 to 6-10 in 2011 to an unfortunate 3-9 so far this season. The fault for that hardly is all Newton's fault but at least the Panthers know what they have.
As far as Tebow goes, who knows, he hasn't played enough to tell.

I'm sorry, but this is HORSEshiat.

Regardless of what may have been said in the media, 30 teams thought of pursuing Manning. And 20ish of them REALLY thought of going after him.

That 'only' about 5 or 6 did so publicly is patently silly to use as an argument.

I would add the Raiders. No seriously.
I think the new management is looking for people of better character then the turds they have been drafting based on speed and strength only. Jamarcus and Rolondo Mclain were flawed people and big busts.
They have been having attendance problems too. The Raiders would benefit from getting more fans from Danville and Pleasanton and less from Hayward and Vacaville.

Patriots? Not as a QB. Belichick loves the guy (so I am told) but the only way he winds up in New England is as a fullback.

Not a chance, apparently Timmay is bad at reading defenses and has dyslexia. The last thing that'll help him is being made to consider an extra player on each side, unlimited motion (including a running start for receivers, full speed at the snap) and a shorter play clock (20 seconds).

That said both Winnipeg and Edmonton need qb's and I'm a Roughriders fan. So do it!

There are some things that go together. "Character" and "Raiders " are two of such things.

Yaaa...but that doesn't really last in most cases. The main sticking point with that idea (with any QB turned receiver for that matter) is that you have to convince Tebow he's not a NFL-caliber quarterback. I'm not sure if that'd be harder or easier than converting him to Islam at this point.

2012-12-08 01:16:43 PM
I honestly hope someone picks him up and he gets to play.

Having him on the bench just makes things worse. If he plays, we can either get rid of him in a year or two after he proves he is worthless or people can make their own judgements since he will have a starter's role for a complete season.

The last thing the Pats need is another tight end. They already have 7 and the best one in NFL. Teach him how to block and put him at fullback

To be fair (and not that I'm disagreeing with your premise), Jay and Tim have vastly different press conference personalities. If you act snarky towards reporters that ask softball questions like Cutler does, you're going to get treated differently than a choirboy like Tebow.

If he wasn't such a damn circus and wasn't so stubborn, he can have a good NFL career. Instead he's going to try to be a starting QB for a team or teams that mistakenly take him seriously. Know your role.

Wow, Tebow won one playoff game, traded, then played sparingly for the Jets until he got his ribs broke against Seattle.
Seems the problem is more the Jets than Tebow.
As for your amazing super psychic powers concerning the teams in the NFL, good luck with that.
Basic fact is Tebow hasn't played enough to make a judgment, of course if you hate him for his faith, that would explain a lot.

I am a Steeler fan. The fact that the Steeler's erred in thinking Kordell was the answer is on them, not Stewart.

The wasted talent thing I get but as brutal as the NFL is on players, and their long term health, why do it if you don't love it and are set for life money wise?

I don't know how well he can catch, but I wouldn't want to bet against Belichick being able to turn him into one hell of an offensive weapon. Thus far, the Brady/Belichick machine has reinvigorated (for a season) Randy Moss, birthed Wes Welker, and brought us Gronk, just to name a few. I bet Tebow could fit right in, once Brady stood him up against a wall and said 'I'm the QB. You're the FB. You had your chance at QB, but you sucked. Hard. Even in practice. Accept that, and accept mu leadership, let's go out and win'.

It doesn't take amazing super psychic powers to realize that when the Broncos were looking to trade Tebow only two teams expressed any interest in him, his hometown team and the trainwreck that is the Jets. And they were only willing to offer a 4th round pick and the Broncos had to eat half his guaranteed money, as well. The league is not beating down the Jets door to take him off their hands, there is only one reason for that fact, they don't think he can play.

Obviously any interest the Pats have would be Tebow as a TE.
The fact that he could throw at all would allow the occasional use of the 6 tight end package we all know New England dreams of.
