scottydoesntknow: Carth: Do you also think Amanda Todd's tormentor did nothing wrong?I didn't realize her job was to not send naked pictures of herself. What does that have to do with this or my comment? Are you gonna pick another suicide that has nothing to do with this?Amanda Todd was a very sad case, and yes the tormenter should be held accountable. Are you saying the DJs are as bad as that guy?
DontMakeMeComeBackThere: For all intense and purposes, what you did would be "devolving".
The My Little Pony Killer: AdolfOliverPanties: The My Little Pony Killer: AdolfOliverPanties: If someone got pranked and killed themselves over it, that says a lot more about the person's mental stability than it does the pranksters. That doesn't absolve the pranksters of being douchebags though.Never heard them. Are they any worse than any of the other morning douchebags though?Their prank directly led to somebody making the choice to end their life. If you can't figure it out from there, there's not much I can do to help you.
DickDarlington: I always thought a joke was funny if BOTH people got a laugh out of it, not just the prankster.

bonobo73: What a suicide-inducing radio jockey may look like: [www.wearysloth.com image 320x240]/too obscure?

minnesotaboy: Was it Weenie and the Butt?
Lego_Addict: The Fisher King is not obscure dude!
Millennium: OtherLittleGuy: Hmmmm....wondering if the radio pranksters will be indicted for manslaughter./not snark, srslyI doubt it. Prank-call victims get mad, and sometimes they even get scared depending on the type or frequency of call. Everyone knows this; it's the reason people make prank calls, and why they are jerks for doing so. But nobody ever anticipates that the victim of a prank call might kill themselves, especially when you only call them once. That just isn't a part of normal human psychology, or even most abnormal human psychologies. No one would expect it; no one would even entertain the possibility. Indeed, we'd look at someone who anticipated the possibility as overthinking things.End result: the pranksters are jerks, but I don't think it's fair to hold them liable for manslaughter. No one could have foreseen this. These guys are going to have to carry the weight of the fact that their actions led to someone's death, even though they didn't mean it, and that will prove to be punishment enough.
bonobo73: /too obscure?
crashdavis18: it really is the height of hypocrisy to call for these djs to be fired. morning radio has been making prank calls forever, and no one cares.
DontMakeMeComeBackThere: BigNumber12: BigNumber12: what's the worse that could happenWhy do people do this?Oh, because language is evolving. I always forget that.Getting a word wrong in an age-old phrase is not evolving.
DontMakeMeComeBackThere: For all intense and purposes
BigNumber12: DontMakeMeComeBackThere: For all intense and purposesYou're joking, right?
AdolfOliverPanties: If someone got pranked and killed themselves over it, that says a lot more about the person's mental stability than it does the pranksters.
lennavan: BigNumber12: DontMakeMeComeBackThere: For all intense and purposesYou're joking, right?Joking? Quite the contrary, his purposes are intense.
lennavan: crashdavis18: it really is the height of hypocrisy to call for these djs to be fired. morning radio has been making prank calls forever, and no one cares. That would be, wouldn't it. You actually think no one has ever called for a morning radio DJ to be fired for a prank call? You know what would be awkward? If this same radio station was currently on probation for something similarly wildly egregious like say having a 14 year old talk about being raped as a 12 year old while strapped to a polygraph. But people loved that prank, it had no media attention, so clearly you're right about the hypocrisy.
stonicus: I told a telemarketer to go fark off one day.The next day she killed herself.Am I guilty?
gaspode: crashdavis18: it really is the height of hypocrisy to call for these djs to be fired. morning radio has been making prank calls forever, and no one cares.Lots of people care. Lots of people think obtaining medical records under false pretenses is a serious crime that should have resulted in these farkers being charged in the UK in absentia. Lots of people think that people who fark up other people's lives without a care in the world should be dealt with harshly ALL the time.So Just because you dont care doesnt mean noone else does.
TheSignPost: scottydoesntknow: TheSignPost: Either by being suspended without pay or people who listen to their show basically saying "I'm gonna listen to another station."No matter what happens, unless the outcome is *not* suicide, those two have no further career on the radio. Their on-air time is over. In fact, they'll be lucky if someone doesn't kill them.Am I advocating that? No. Just saying it's likely. Why are the DJs deaths/murders likely? What have they done to warrant murder?Have you read any of the press? Any of the "I hope you die" sentiment in response to her death? What have they done to *warrant* being killed? Nothing. But that wasn't the point I was making.
crashdavis18: well, who really cares who all cares? not the point. if management regularly condones prank calls and all of the other silly things that occur on morning radio, then when something like this happens, it would be hypocritical to get upset.
gaspode: stonicus: I told a telemarketer to go fark off one day.The next day she killed herself.Am I guilty?No.. if you phoned her house pretending to be her boss and told her she was fired and she killed herself you would be though..
dennysgod: AdolfOliverPanties: If someone got pranked and killed themselves over it, that says a lot more about the person's mental stability than it does the pranksters. It's a bit more then getting pranked. When working for a hospital a breach of confidentiality is worse then accidentally killing someone. A violation such as this would not only cost her job, but very well her career as well since no hospital is going to hire when they find out "breech of confidentiality" as her response for leaving her previous employee, and this joke didn't have to go global for that to happen. This was a career ending prank she fell for.
trappedspirit: This sounds an awful lot like white people problems
