This is not a repeat from 1999, 1966, 1964, or any other time a foreign-born person decided they wanted to kick in the NFL.

I think most good soccer players can kick successful fieldgoals. Mia Hamm went and kicked 40 yarders like nothing when she visited a football practive.

That's the key word there. A good many can do it in practise but to take the field in a game requires a little more experience of different conditions and a different kind of defensive pressure. Place kicking is different since it's largely done "soccer style" in the NFL and CFL. To play in a game a good soccer player would likely have little trouble placekicking, but putting the ball through the uprights successfully & consistently isn't something they can just walk in to.

I remember at least three: Fuad Reveiz, Morten Andersen, and Gary Anderson.

I was thing Seabass, Yepremian, and Gogolak but those guys definitely fit in too. If you want to include punters, Rocca would work too.

Not at all Dana

I think the cool thing about this kid is he came to the US to learn English to help him land a better job in Brazil. He didn't come the the states to become a football player.

Found the video. Just as funny as it was a quarter of a century ago. Kicker part starts around 1:12 or so.

Both have performed great services for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
