DeMint resigns just in time for her to appoint herself as her term as governor expires. Coincidence?

I'm just asking questions here.

But Haley quickly quashed that possibility in a radio interview Thursday afternoon, saying, "No, I will not be appointing myself. That's not even an option."

She needs to appoint an obviously gay, yet still closeted white man for South Carolina Senator.

Is her birth name too hard pronounce for the rubes? Just like Jindal.

"A new poll by Winthrop University of all adults pegged her job-approval rating at just 38 percent - a full 10 points behind President Barack Obama."

Yeah, her approval rating is way too high to serve in Congress.

Or you know, she could appoint the man DeMint wants in Tim Scott. It's almost like politics isn't a giant web of conspiracies and backroom deals. Sometimes it's pretty straight forward.

FTFA: Sen. DeMint has tossed an IED into South Carolina politics," said South Carolina GOP consultant Richard Quinn.

Worst. Metaphor. Ever.

I wouldn't be too happy about DeMint leaving.

He gets to go the Heritage Foundation. He then helps Jim DeMint II: George Wallace Boogaloo get elected to DeMint's former seat. Then DeMint and DeMint II get to help elect Jim DeMint III: Bull Connor Boogaloo get elected by destroying Lindsey Graham in the primary.

So in essence you get 2.5 or 3 DeMints in the end.

You mean it's not going to be Alvin Greene? The 365,000 Democrats who voted for him will be disappointed.

Too bad Lindsey Graham already has a job.

Too late. Lindsay Graham Cracker (R - Suks Coke) already fits that description to a T. But, do not fear, there are plenty other (self-described) conservative cross-dressing dandies in Charleston and Spartenberg for the Hindu Lady to chose among.

If she really wanted to troll South Carolina she's appoint this guy:
fitsnews.com

who just happens to be her Daddy, and totally NOT a Muslim, but try explaining that to the average Southern Carolinian

Added another conservative GOP lobbyist, "Scott is (black) head and (black) shoulders above any other possible appointee."

Hey look voters, the GOP has a black guy! see? see?

/cause Mr. Steele was a slam dunk

I really think that being elected to the Senate should require some kind of commitment. Unless you're incapacitated and can't perform the job, you shouldn't get to just up and leave for another job whenever you want.

It makes sense for him to go now. In fact, the Heritage presidency is probably the bribe to retire he was waiting for. Not that SC is likely to elect a Democratic senator, but giving an appointee 4 years to run, essentially, as an incumbent sure helps the GOP keep the seat.

Or if the replacement really farks up, he'll be a proven enough quantity to get defeated in a primary or lose to a Democratic opponent.

Nah, just kidding. He'll just blame any farkups on the Democrats and win by a landslide.

IIRC, the appointee has to then run in a special election in 2014 - and then run again in 2016 for the normal election cycle.

That being said, the only real threat would be getting primaried - there's not much chance for a Dem to win a Senate seat in SC.

Hmm. . . Where have I heard that name before? Oh yeah:

In 1983, here is what Richard Quinn had to say about Martin Luther King!

King Day should have been rejected because its purpose is vitriolic and profane. By celebrating King as the incarnation of all they admire, they [black leaders] have chosen to glorify the histrionic rather than the heroic and by inference they spurned the brightest and the best among their own race...Ignoring the real heroes in our nation's life, the blacks have chosen a man who represents not their emancipation, not their sacrifices and bravery in service to their country; rather, they have chosen a man whose role in history was to lead his people into a perpetual dependence on the welfare state, a terrible bondage of body and soul.

In 1989 Quinn also supported David Duke for Louisiana State Senate in his magazine Southern Partisan.

I remember him from when he played a small role in the McCain campaign (from 2000, back when McCain was allegedly cool).
