Medic Zero: olliepat: telejester: chooktah: baby killer.

Oh, and the Nazis and Japanese weren't baby killers? Check your history. Check out the crimes those people did to POWs and innocent civilians. Their atrocities don't come anywhere near anything we did. The bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the war. Had the war gone on for any length of time, more people would have died... on both sides... than the dead in Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Your logic...it isn't.

Just do your homework. I did.

So Chinese don't count then?

When they start counting, so should everyone else.

So far, not a lot of self-examination of the past there.

Absolutely. I was just thinking of the Nazis and Japanese at the time.

You are trying to say they had worse attrocities than we did. But we were the ones that fire bombed Germany and Japan until there were no significant targets left to fire bomb..

dittybopper: Harry Freakstorm: The day after the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, and four days after the bombing of Hiroshima, Davis - by then a lieutenant colonel and commander of the 8th Fighter Group - led 62 P-38 planes that dropped napalm on Kumamoto.

"The two big bombs got their attention, and my 62 P-38s brought them to the table," he says.

Okay pops. Whatever you say.

No, he was right: The 62 P-38s brought them to the table, because we had destroyed their ability to open canned goods.

They needed the P-38s if they were going to open the canned tuna.

I miss those damn things, they were the only thing guaranteed to open C-rat cans without fail, especially those aforementioned cans of tuna. Between C-rat canned tuna, and C-rat peanut butter (best described as peanut-flavored paste), there sure was plenty of protein in those C-rats... and it it quite arguable if the MRE was an improvement over the C-ration or not.

I only had access to the first few years of MRE's, and as far as food substitutes go, I also preferred the C-Rats.

To clarify: if you are somehow trying to say that the Axis atrocities didn't come anywhere near what we did, first of all A) The Holocaust, secondly - look into how many Chinese the Japanese killed. If you aren't aware, I think you'll be shocked at those numbers.

Olliepat, read The Rape of Nanking and see if you still think Japanese atrocities were nowhere near what we did.

So, because we aren't quite as bad as the Nazis and Imperial Japanese, we're above criticism? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. That's like saying serial killer A isn't really bad because serial killer B has a higher body count and A only killed his victims instead of raping them and then killing them like B did.

There are lines that civilized human beings do not cross under any circumstances - for instance, torture. It doesn't matter whether you're a foot over the line or a mile, you've still crossed it.
