That IS a perfect gift, as I am trying to get Detroit Lions fans out of my life.

Reminds me of the 2007/8 Bengals calendar I got, right around the time David Pollack retired due to a busted vertebrae and Odell Thurman going all HAM on life (drugs, arrests, etc), which got him kicked off the squad. One other guy wasn't on team by end of the season, can't recall who.

In other news, people are still buying wall calendars?

They're useful to write appointments on (even though virtually everything I do is on computers, I hate using a shared calendar with others). And as a way to have something of at least a little visual interest on the wall. But I wouldn't pay for one (I get mine free from the school).

/but then, a lot of gifts aren't things anyone would buy themselves
//also, this calendar sums up the Lions pretty well

a picture of Ndamukong Suh kicking Matt Schaub in the man-parts would have been a better choice

I would buy a calendar that's just different pictures of Suh kicking people.

It won't be long before there are enough photos of that to make an extended calendar through the end of 2020.

Some of them have pictures of tits.

Calender totally fails without this pic, this should be the photo that represents every month of the year!!!

My barber has a NFL calendar up - which is smart in Chicago because the Bears are the only team everybody likes. I think Roy Williams was the November image, which shows again why NFL calendars are awful ideas. You better be putting the franchise players for May-December, because there is so much turnaround with NFL contracts.

This Lions one does seem to go to a new level of ineptitude. They probably could pull together 5 players who are likely to stay on the roster until May and 7 to make it through December 2013.

Let's see if I can do it:

Jan - Justin Durant
Feb - Jason Hanson
Mar - Cliff Avril
Apr - Chris Houston
May - Nick Fairly (2011 1st Round pick, DT)
Jun - Riley Reiff (2012 1st Round pick, OT)
Jul - Kyle Vanden Bosch
Aug - Brandon Pettigrew
Sep - Mikel Leshoure
Oct - Ndamukong Suh
Nov - Calvin Johnson (Cover)
Dec - Matthew Stafford (Cover)

That was hard - lots of people have contracts ending before next season. Can I put Jim Schwartz in there somewhere? Maybe an action shot of him yelling "Do not punt to Hester"?

My packers calendar had the same problems last year including nick barnett who was playing in buffalo by the time his month rolled along. I think they should be July to July so you can have the team schedule on them and avoid off season trade casualties

Stick to pics of the star players and the stadium. Maybe some logos or action shots from the year before.

I only bought 1 Packers calendar ever, but the guy on the cover won't go away.

Much like the team themselves, that calendar is a comedy of errors.

There's even talk that they're done with Suh's act. Just to be safe, print 12 months of Jason Hanson.

I suggest an action shot of him throwing a challenge flag.

So I was reading and thinking "eh, no big deal, it takes a long time to put these things together, how could they have known...." And then I got to the part where it says the calendar has a Super Bowl history. A Lions team calendar, featuring a Super Bowl history. That's when I got on board with the Fail tag.

Young was recently placed on season-ending IR with a knee injury, and Schwartz said that he would undergo surgery "if he shows up for it."

Damn, you know a player is a total ass when even the head coach is taking shots at him like that.

I wouldn't assume Schwartz is going to have a job next year, even if they did extend his contract last summer. Only reason the Lions went to the playoffs in 2011 was b/c Stafford started all 16 games and threw for 5k yards.

Why not save everyone money?

The Detroit Lions all time Super Bowl Appearances Calendar!
-- OR --
The Official Detroit Lions Cheerleaders Calendar!

/I can never figure out which is which - they both look the same
//Will still look the same in another 50 years
