WTF do UK, Purdue, Cal and CU really expect their new coaches to do...make Bama, tOSU, USC and Oregon vanish? Even if, by some recruiting miracle, these bottom feeders become competitive for a few years, those coaches are going to leave for a big-time school just before the NCAA kicks in the door and obliterates them.

It caused A&M to leave the conference and as a result they are losing out big time to A&M in recuiting.

Mack actually blamed some of the Longhorns' woes in LHN. I guess he's obligated to spend 6 hours a week prepping for and doing shows (i.e. time he's not spending coaching). And now opposing coaches can tune in and see practices during game week and get up to date injury reports. Turns out, it's a handy source of intel for the opposition. Nice.

Powers is hiding behind the 8 wins as a good thing. But two of those wins had to have successful fourth down conversions in the waning minutes or they would have been losses. This could easily be a 6-6 team. With A&M posting 10 wins and a possible Heisman trophy and a loss to TCU in Austin for the first time since the 60's (not to mention yet another mauling at the hands of OU) the Austin brain-trust of Powers/Dodds/Brown better sleep with one eye open.

It couldn't happen to a more deserving group. Deloss Dodds is poison.

Texas president? I would have expected Fark to be all over it when they seceded, but I didn't see a single link.

Mack used to be able to count on a late season win against the Aggies to make people forget about losing to Okiehoma.

Not anymore.

Via condios, Mack. Tell Vince I said hey.

Funny how Texas destabilized all of college athletics, almost entirely by themselves, and they persistently suck. Well, okay, not suck, but consistently just north of lousy.

Big time?
Texas' 2013 class has a higher ranking than Texas A&M or any Big 12 school.
Fark aggy. OU is going to ass-rape them. Kinda like what happened to the Horns. : (

Aggy will always be UT's retarded lil' cousin.

Yes, its not like the longhorns are consistently over-hyped every single year, or that the folks at say ESPN would have a monetary reason to do so.

Consistently over what timeframe? And over what sports (you said all athletics)?

The last 3 years have sucked, but they had a record over the 10 years prior that 99% of the programs would trade their mammas for, in football alone.

Wrong...losses to Baylor in 2011 and 2010...Longhorns beat Baylor this year, at home.
If that game would have been at Floyd Casey this year, it would have been a loss.

Longhorns were ranked 17th in the Week 1 poll, how is that "overrated"?

FTFA - ''I'd like to state unequivocally that Coach Brown has my full support as well as the support of Men's Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds. Put succinctly, Mack Brown is and will remain the Longhorns' head football coach... until Art Briles comes available." - FTFY

The Longhorns are 134-34 under Head Coach Mack Brown overall. The Longhorns are 9-4 in bowl games under Brown and have been bowl-eligible for 13 of 14 seasons during his tenure, including 12 straight years from 1998-2009. Additionally, Brown's Horns have won the Big 12 South division title six times, the Big 12 Conference title twice (2005, 2009), and the National Championship once (2005). Mack Brown has led the Longhorns to three BCS bowl wins in four appearances.

Yup, Longhorns suck under Mack Brown.

Well...at the END of the season, they're unranked AP, and ESh*tPN power rankings and 25th in the coaches poll which would indicate that their ranking of 17 BEFORE they played anyone was too high.

Wait until the Beavers take a chunk out of Bevo.

I get it, but the Horns seem helpless on defense these last few years. I don't think anyone is more disgusted than Brown himself, (see his reaction to the OU blowout) but he probably has only until October next season to fix it. I don't think there will be a high-profile coach more under the gun than Mack.

2013 isn't the best year to be judging that. 2014 is when you will see the major effects. That said:

Recruiting, an area where Texas long has had first pick, has started to fray at the edges for the Longhorns. There have been three decommitments in the 2013 class. One running back, Arlington Martin's Kyle Hicks, was committed to Texas for nine months but spurned the Longhorns earlier this week and announced he would attend TCU, a new Big 12 foe.

Another, Sealy's Ricky Seals-Jones, is the No. 1 prospect in the state and has his sights now set on Texas A&M or LSU.

One of the top players in the state for 2014, linebacker Hoza Scott (LaPorte, Texas/LaPorte), was a Texas priority. But he has already declared his allegiance to the Aggies.

"Really, honestly, my decision and my mindset is on A&M," Scott told ESPN.com. "That's where I really want to go."

Defensive back Nick Harvey (Lancaster, Texas/Lancaster), another Texas target, committed to the Aggies in late November.

"Texas and Texas A&M were battling for the No. 1 spot," Harvey told ESPN.com.

When you start losing recruit to TCU, it might be time to rethink your strategy.

We did stop them, the refs blew the call. Replays clearing showed the ball being fumbled before crossing the goal line on that final touchdown and the OSU player coming out with the ball.

At the same time, you can't expect awful teams to just kind of sit there. Colorado went from very bad to hilariously bad. There's hope for the future to get back to very bad.
