Nope: Link

"It is a highly poisonous tree, known in parts of Western Australia as 'camel poison'. All parts of the tree are toxic, even dry leaves, although it seems that little corellas can eat the seeds. Suckering shoots are particularly dangerous. Domestic animals have been poisoned by leaves accidentally trapped in the side of trucks which were transporting them; 50 grams of leaves is enough to kill. Do not tie your horse to this tree!"

There is no place in Australia I would go swimming except a swimming pool and even that I would walk around and make sure there wasn't a croc in it.
Funny how that works... I grew up in SW La. where we had alligators all over the place. We swam in the rice canals that were full of them and yet we had no fear of them. Crocs on the other hand just terrify the shiat out of me.

Mr Peter Carstairs, from Western Australia's Department of the Environment and Conservation, said Miss Hawkes was taking a swim in a fresh water pool in an area known for crocodiles. 'It was not far from the salt water area and as she was exiting the water she was grabbed by a crocodile,' said Mr Carstairs.

Oldiron_79: You're saying that like its a bad thing

Nope. Gratitude for being saved from a horrible death is always a good thing. They look to be vacationing together and from living in a major port area for a number of cruise lines I can say that the personnel very much take advantage of the life style on and off the ship. Being cooped up on a ship with other equally pretty people with good personalities and social skills is such a burden. It probably doesn't hurt he kind of looks like Clive Owen under the week old beard. You're that young and look that good only once, if at all, and if she's doing, for a good cause, what she'd be doing anyway then good on both of them and I hope it works out.

Oh she sailed away
On a lovely summer's day
On the back of a crocodile

"You see" said she
"He's as tame as he could be
I'll float him down the Nile"

But the croc winked his eye
As she waved them all goodbye
Wearing a great big smile

And at the end of the ride
The lady was inside
And that's the smile of the crocodile!
(Clap clap)

How often do Saltwater Crocs go into Freshie territory ? I know, it might have been a freshie, but the article ( i know, daily fail ) had a salty for a pic of what a croc should look like.
Anyone ? Or am i just overthinking this ... ?

I liked this 'That area's very well known for crocodiles, so I think removing people from the environment instead of removing the crocodile from the environment sounds like a good idea.'

I see plenty of others have chipped in so I'll just throw out a quote from an article about Australia's poisonous trees.

"In fact, there are six species of stinging tree in Australia, but only two of them are the tall woody types - the other four are lowish shrubs."

But wait, there's more!
In Australia, the native eucalyptus trees are also known to explode during bush fires due to the high flammability of vaporised eucalyptus oil produced by the tree naturally.

For the record

There are 2 main types of crocs in Australia.

Saltwater crocs, found mostly in the saltwater coastal areas of northern Australia, they can tolerate fresh water for long periods as well. These are the nasty animals, they can be very territorial and aggressive, and are pretty much always hungry.

Freshwater crocs are found mostly in the inland waterways of northern Australia. While they have a mouthful of teeth, they are much smaller than their salty cousins, and are generally timid animals, they would avoid human contact if possible, and hunt small fish and amphibians. I wouldn't say they are harmless, but you'd really have to piss one off for it to bite you, and I doubt it could attack you so badly as to cause death.

If you swim in any waters of northern Australia, good luck.
