Mariah is amazing.

That song is easily an instant classic. This version is also very enjoyable.

/the little kids popping up are my favorite parts

If Mariah Carey weren't mentioned it would be more interesting.

There is something about the original that makes me hate it. It is overplayed on the Christmas stations, to be sure, but there's something else. However, I've slowly been warming to it over the last few years, and I can't help but wonder if it being featured in "Love, Actually" is to blame.

This version seems to be lacking the quality or qualities that I don't like about the original, so I'm happy to have watched it. The kids' section was especially nice.

Oh and if we're talking about Christmas and Jimmy Fallon, why not post the original and best of his holiday work

There was more musical talent in Jimmy Fallon's backstage area than at the CMA's

By far his best holiday work.

Saw this video yesterday and immediately sent to my wife to watch it and then played it for the kids later. There something whimsical about the simple instruments they're playing that I love, and when the kids pop up I can't help but smile every time. I love it.

I hate that song too and I think because of the over playing. However I doubt Love Actually had anything to do with any "surge" in popularity because it never really waned to begin with. There are but only so many Christmas classics to pick from every year, and FSM knows that the music industry keeps trying to make new ones, so the "good" ones have staying power year after year.

karnal: Jimmy Fallon is too cool!

Wat?

He laughs at his own jokes. Do you know what that means?

Fallon is not funny what so ever, has very little talent and somehow convinces people that he does have talent.

Someone at NBC receives fellatio from him weekly so he can put his train wreck of a show on tv

I don't mean a surge in popularity; I meant that I was warming to it for some reason and that film was cute.

Not mad, just disappointed that some people have poor taste.

You really shouldn't judge, you're as good at it as Fallon is at telling a joke.

Mariah was great 20 years ago. Today? It is as sad as any outdated musician trying to hang on to their glory days.

I'm really glad Jimmy Fallon got this gig. He's a legitimately funny guy, but SNL just wasn't the right fit for him. Not being able to control your laughter really spoils live sketch comedy, but it's pretty much perfect for hosting a talk show. Getting the Roots to join and actually setting himself apart with features like this were also great decisions.

2012-12-06 12:07:42 PM
1) I see that Jimmy has been studying Craig Ferguson

2) While not fan he gets props for having fun with his job.

3) The 'Call Me Maybe' was great, too.

I wasn't judging, nor did I tell a joke, so this "insult" doesn't make any sense. I'll pretend to be all huffy and burned if that will make you feel better. *POUTS*

The kids popping up very nearly tip this into Muppet territory.

I love the Barenaked Ladies holiday album for that reason. They did a lot of relaxed takes on Christmas standards with some instruments you wouldn't expect. And their "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings" can't be beat.

Yeah, she was good. Got kind of sick of her in the 90s though because it seemed that's all they played were songs expecially Christmas songs.

Let's see, you took what I said and based on your "judgement", you thought I must be mad. Therefore, you judged me.

Also, I didn't say you told a joke, I compared your judgement skills to Fallon's ability to make himself laugh. Both of which are lacking.

Ergo, my "insult" (which was more an observation) didn't make sense to you because you lack basic reading comprehension skills, or at least have in this instance., or maybe you are just a good troll, I can't tell.

Ugh, the troll card. You are mad. Here's some judgment for you: your OP sounded petulant and melodramatic, and you've cranked it up from there.

quizzical: I love the Barenaked Ladies holiday album for that reason. They did a lot of relaxed takes on Christmas standards with some instruments you wouldn't expect. And their "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings" can't be beat.

I thoroughly enjoy that album myself. From it I learned that a sevivan was the same thing as a dreidel, just one is in Hebrew and one Yiddish.

Nooooope. She is probably a talented singer, but like every other song made since about 1980 it's all you hear on when in a public place from November 1 through December 31. Two. F*#$%ing. Months. of the same crap every year. Mariah Carey, Madonna, John f%$#ing Lennon, I've had it.

I'd have killed someone or myself by now if it weren't for Holiday Traditions on Sirius. Music from the 40s-60s that you will pretty much not hear on broadcast radio or anywhere else. Ahhhh.....

This is everything I hate about NBC, commercial holiday exploitation, record companies, and bad songwriting in one awful ball of Ugh.

I cringed in horror when I saw the still image of this on Hulu a couple days ago.

/Exception is made for The Roots, who are actually decent despite their association with Fallon and Carey.

I literally could not watch fifteen seconds of that because for an inexplicable reason I loathe Jimmy Fallon with every fiber of my being. Sorry Jim!
