"Hold my beer and watch this!"

Somehow I imagined it more like "pass that crystal and lemme see your lighter."

Still, I'm pretty sure my brother would just go "yo, sis. Not cool. Not cool at all." Especially if I tried to throw a two-year-old back in the flaming house. You have to wonder what kind of parenting they had.

If he wants to exterminate his family and eliminate his genetic line, let him do it. Then kill him.

It's a natural selection event (NSE). It will strengthen the human species.

Nope, although I'm sure there'd be many many people here in WI that would volunteer to see to it that these scumbags assumed room temperature sooner rather than later. Myself included.

The fire killed Allen Wand, 7; Jeffery Wand, 5; and Joseph Wand, 3, and the fetus that Sharon Wand was carrying.

So it wasn't four children, it was three children and a blob of tissue.

I believe the mother was in a medically induced coma for a long time because of her severe burns, and only recently was brought out of it. She had to learn what happened after the fact, because she had no memory of it. So she's dealing with that on top of recovering from life-threatening burns.

(Just thought I'd pop in and make a sad story more tragic.)

And in Texas, they executed a man who burned himself trying to save his daughters, on the testimony of a pseudoscientific official with an axe to grind.

Way to go USA.

Don't blame the whole country for Texas' obsession with killing its own citizens.

You meant to say: one report alleges misconduct.

According to an August 2009 investigative report by an expert hired by the Texas Forensic Science Commission, the original claims of arson were doubtful.[2] The Corsicana Fire Department disputes the findings, stating that the report overlooked several key points in the record.

Are you basing your entire accusation on the report of one guy who wasn't there?

Scientific, it must be!

SILLY man. Didn't you know? Nobody EVER gets executed in Texas who is innocent! If they were convicted they must be guilty, even if evidence showed they were innocent. Apparently it's what Jesus wants. Or something.

I'm guessing you're not a parent. The answer is "lots of people". Hell, there are Gerber or Pampers or some such affiliations (my kids are older so I don't exactly remember) policies they market to parents of young children; the coverage increases over time and the kids can assume the policy with higher levels and no medical exam or preexisting condition clauses when they become adults.

///No idea whether they are a good deal or not, and we didn't do it, but lots of our fellow parents of young children did. And they really, really did not do it in case they wanted to whack the kids.

Me. As part of the health benefits package offered by the company I work for I chose life insurance and ADD coverage for my entire family. I don't want anything bad to happen to them at all, but in the event something does happen we are all covered.

Folks, this is why you don't saddle your kids with dick-joke-provoking names. There may be people out there with names provoking Beavis-and-Buttheadesque hilarity and mirth who are well-adjusted, but I wouldn't wish it on my offspring. That shiat burbles to the surface, and it ain't pretty.

The only life insurance you need on a child is enough to cover the cost of burying them should the worst happen. Most adult policies cover this with a rider.

The Gerber deal is not worth it at all. Life insurance is generally meant to replace lost income. Kids have no income.

Who doesn't? Funerals are expensive and I can't imagine how much unpaid time off work I would need to recover from the death of a child. I have always carried $25k on each of my children to cover those two things if needed.

Do you honestly think the average parent won't miss at least a little work following the death of their child?
