That song at the end during the sports stuff was awful and I turned it off. I liked it until then.

davidhyde: My favorite planet.

Obviously, you haven't been to Jupiter.

Now I have the desire to go re-watch all the shows that these clips were from in its original better form. I highly recommend everyone does

A few awesome but well known video segments. Many not at all awesome video segments. A shiatty choice for music. A shiatty edit.

Does not make a pure awesome video.

the first three minutes of earth were good but after that it quickly evolves into some kind of extreme sports fap fest

THIS

But I had a thought: What if you did footage like this in a James Bond chase sequence? That would be Intense Sprinkles on top of Awesome Sauce...

And none of it was about owning anything.

That was beautiful. Just beautiful. Let's keep it that way.

I remember when people could sit through an hour long doc on one subject. Then Planet Earth proved people actually only want maybe three minutes on one topic before going to the next thing. Turns out it's actually 10 seconds, tops.

I'm not sure how they got the shot of the avalanche but some camera man out there has giant balls of steel.

For some reason I could not stop thinking of this while watching subbys vid...

Actually, if you want to see a video that shows the power and awe of nature, trythis, I get goosebumps every time. Crank up them 'phones and toggle the HD.

Seriously, meh.

An overproduced, quick-cut music video of other people's photography.

The natural world is beautiful if you take the time to appreciate it. No need to sully it with this split-second, TV ad-style garbage editing.

If you click through to YouTube, you see that it's just some dude's re-edit of his favorite videos by other people.

The X-Games crap in the second half kinda douches up the whole thing. "Let's embrace nature with ski resorts, skate parks and motocross courses!"

Godfrey Reggio, he is not.

I call shenanigans. They don't show ANYONE landing or completing their jumps. I demand a blooper reel.

isn't 70-something percent of the earth's surface water and yet no fish?

Psalm 104:10-14

"He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-bringing forth food from the earth." (NIV)

colledge: Psalm 104:10-14

"He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-bringing forth food from the earth." (NIV)

Bible quotes! I love doing those! My turn:

Deuteronomy 20:13-15

"When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. 15 This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby." (NIV)

So apparently for dramatic nature shots, you need a lot of clouds.

Earth... "mostly harmless"

/Yeah, "mostly harmless" my ass...
//Earth... "Breathtaking.... with some issues..." would be more apropos.
