Ok so I wanted to take a chance on plugging a radio station I really like, it's probably one of the only stations I've come across that has the weird ass mix of music and radio shows I like. Geek, nerd, science fiction, fantasy, comics, steampunk, and other assorted genres. They actually help produce original radio shows in those genres to, along with playing some of the old classics like some of the Superman serials.

They've got a kickstarter campaign going to try to raise money to cover operating costs, and maybe expand as well.

This is one of the shows they help make, lots of fun to listen to.

You might like the music they play, you might not. But hey, what the hell, couldn't hurt to try on sharing it.

Which show? The Dixie show isn't cosplay, it's like one of those old style 30s 40s radio shows.

I can't figure out if the guy didn't bother memorizing his script (or even the names of the people involved in the clip) or if he just really had a thing for the cameraman's junk.

God, I wish this stupid geek chic fad would die already.

Only the old Superman serial?

Have they considered airing Orson Welles's run on The Shadow? It fits the theme of the station.

They're called podcasts and they exist already.

$6,600 to listen to someone breathe heavily while eating Cheetos and trying to get their geek on?

Meh.

/actually sounds pretty cool

There is *another* internet radio/podcast out there that solely caters to sci-fi/fantasy/gamer/comics/etc? Got a link?

As a public service, I just thought I would mention that "radio", for those of you wondering, is an old audio-only medium that people used to use to transmit political propaganda, advertising, and governmentally approved music to people who had radio receiving devices. It became obsolete in the 1990's.

every dog has his day. Actually my super nerdy friends hate it. I think it's because being outcasts and having their own culture is so built into the mindset. Now they turn on the tv to see the Big Bang Theory and suddenly they're popular and it upsets their sensibilities.

/likes nerdy things but doesn't consider it a part of my identity
//I do dislike the Big Bang Theory
///the IT Crowd is a much better show about nerds

Ahh, so the guys in the link must be unaware of it to claim they're the ONLY ones.

There was a smart article on the insulting shallowness of geek chic culture, and I wish I could find it.
One of the main points was Big Bang Theory - namely that "there are no geek jokes, because the geeks are the joke".

First off, thank you to Fark admins for green-lighting the link, I knew it was a hell of a longshot, but took a chance.

Sadly they didn't make their goal in time, so I guess they'll try again. But hey, it's a pretty cool station. So always worth a look if you're a huge nerd or geek and like music made by fellow weirdos.

Also thanks to anyone who donated!

So, am I the only one who can't get a Kickstarter page greened on FarkUs? Because now I feel inadequate.
