Munchkin City Coroner: jmmsmile: My son and I live on a 24" cabin cruiser in the summertime. Got it for $4K. Cleaned it up and the slip rental for the season is cheaper than renting a shore house for a week. Sweet. It floated away in Hurricane Sandy, but we found it and it was put back on its blocks for $900.

24"? Are you a smurf?

You should see their replica of Stonehenge.

I lived in a 1984 Honda Prelude for 7 months, it's very canoe-like.

All this time I've been searching for the little man in the canoe, and it turns out he's in Boston. Go figure!

Someone had a bad boat experience... But that's ok. Just let it all out, man. We're here for you.

snowjack: Nadie_AZ: Smith said this week that he's been bunking down in metro Boston waters for about two months now. Authorities said that they're keeping an eye on the unconventional camper, but that he isn't breaking any laws.

He's gonna be a meat popsicle come January.

No kidding.

Even if I lost everything and had no skills, I don't think it would take too long to raise enough cash to buy an old sailboat with a little cabin, just working fast food jobs. Or begging, if I couldn't even get a fast food job for some reason. 'Course someone who is crazy enough to try living on a canoe going into a Northeast winter is probably not the kind of person I'd be looking to hire if I owned a fast food joint.

I'd go looking for something like this... asking price is $3800: 1984 Catalina 25
Probably not in great shape, but it would be a secure place to keep your stuff, a roof over your head, a sink, hot plate, and a toilet.

Know how I know you don't own a boat?

-So you'd save up 4 grand, because that's easy for most people to do, especially those with no assets and skills.
-Then, you would go get the boat in Vermont (hopefully you live nearby so you can walk)
-Then you would figure out how to sail it (skill) or you saved up for gas (for a 9hp engine, that will barely move that thing-it's meant for parking) or otherwise pay for a boat slip (appx. $4000/yr in WV for aboat that size, more anywhere else)
-Good thing you can save money by anchoring in open water at night, because that money will come in handy when trying to dock such a large boat, as you cannot just pull up anywhere and expect to leave the boat at a public marina
-Surely you saved up enough cash with your minimum wage job to maintain your 30 year old boat on a daily basis, as a $3800, 30 year old boat needs
-And on year 31, when you experience your first large failure (engine blown, torn sail, broken mast, leaking hull, rotting deck), you saved up for that too...and for year 32's failure....and year 33's failure.....

Yeah sounds like a good plan! I can't believe stupid canoe guy hasn't done this yet!
