Since it's Russia, I think it's safe to assume that in the vast majority of these, alcohol was involved.

Let's just say that very little ethanol makes its way into the gas tank.

Maybe the guy in the car struck by lightning was sober.

But probably not.

So true.

CSB - I have a friend who was a factory manager in Moscow back in the 70's. He told me that the party boss would come once a month to "inspect the factory" and ensure that everything was in tip top condition and that they were making their quotas.

Naturally, nearly everything was always broken and there were no spare parts to fix anything... and even if you could, they never had enough raw materials, and what they got was usually so shiatty they had to throw half of it out, so while the boss was inspecting the factory he would always forget to lock the trunk of his car and a half dozen cases of vodka would mysteriously find their way in there. /CSB

IIRC, the guy with the bulldozer got his own greenlit thread.

WTF was going on with the low flying helicopter?

And the car that flips over at about 4:03 in? WTF??

I think I'd soil myself if I saw a jet flying straight towards me.

Holy Crap! My first green. Yay me!

So, um, 4:00 is something.

2012-12-05 05:04:39 PM
Before my video camera was stolen I planned on recording everything similarly while driving around in Florida. Less spectacular, but filled with enough idiocy to fill a short film on youtube.

willfullyobscure: farkin shiatbag at 3:00 needs a killin pretty fierce

So it's all fun & games until a motorcycle gets hit? What about the shiatbag at 10:00 - does he need killin too?

/it goes both ways

At least the horse was using the crosswalk.

2012-12-05 05:06:17 PM
I watched the whole thing, and then rewatched certain parts of it again. Just wow. Some of those had a pucker factor of 10.

He must be the only one in Russia who's read a regulations manual.

Probably still is, but in the 70s drunkenness was pervasive. And often desperate.

My friend's dad worked in some aerospace factory in Moscow. He said a coworker would at times put a can of rubber cement on a drill press with a large bit. When he lowered the spinning drill into the glue, the adhesive component wrapped itself around the bit, allowing him to extract a rubbery glob, leaving behind murky alcohol. Which he drank. I don't know what they made in that factory, but whatever it was eventually made its way into planes.

I would never get on a carnival ride in Russia.

This made me want to kiss my inspection sticker on my car. Wow, tires are just flying off cars in Russia.

2012-12-05 05:21:06 PM
wow watched the whole thing. a rarity. driver at 12:10 shoulda just sped up and really made that pedestrian get what he asked for.

Makh: Are cars just disposable over there?

I love the guy that calmly walks away from his mangled car with his briefcase. Just leaves it there.

This was a fantastic video. Why is everyone driving into oncoming traffic?

I'm never going to Russia, but if I do, remind me to stay the hell off the roads

2012-12-05 05:33:11 PM
I guess the lines on the road are just a suggestion.

Watched the entire thing and laughed almost all the way through.

2012-12-05 06:17:43 PM
There were too many great moments in that, but the horse crossing the crosswalk farking killed me.

2012-12-05 06:23:29 PM
I'm amazed at how many of those clips were of people driving on the wrong side of the road. Not just the people passing on a two lane road, but the highways with medians and the cars driving against the traffic or doing u-turns, what would possibly possess someone to do that.

Another thing I learned, power lines appear to just fall over sometimes in Russia.

2012-12-05 06:27:02 PM
So if 11:14 happened in say, Fouke Arkansas, generations of children would be hearing about the Ghost Woman of Boggy Creek that sometimes appears in the road looking for her missing titty hair.

And to think I thought there were bad drivers here.

2012-12-05 06:38:44 PM
What I noticed was how fast people drive there. Are there marked speed limits in Russia?

How confused must the driver have been at 4:00? Imagine driving along and 2 seconds later you're upside down.

2012-12-05 07:00:29 PM
All part and parcel of the New Russia, I guess.

That is why there's a new, growing crop of dash-cam videos featuring would-be face-beaters backing away to the shouts of "You're on camera, farker! I'm calling the cops!"

2012-12-05 07:29:52 PM
Apparently they have "Driving Suggestions" instead of "Driving Regulations"

11:13 there is a ghost in the road

Thanks. But where's the lightning strike? The dancing horse? The haymobile? The lowflying jet? I'm a substitute and can't wait to show these to some kids.

I never thought I would feel better about driving in Boston... Watching that just made me shook my head. I thought we were completely insane on the road, but now I must bow down. We're amateurs at road insanity compared to the Russians.

The horse isn't dancing, just crossing the street. The haymobile is early in the video, the jet later on. Oh, and early in the video there's a low flying helicopter too. This video has it all and then some.

This one... I keep watching it over and over. I can't see it hit anything first. It seriously seems to have a wheelie button inside somewhere.

It hit the tram cable.

Why the cable was down is anyone's guess.

They need to play these sorts of videos at Drivers Ed here in America. Show how not to do things: driving too fast, passing when it is not safe, not checking the car to make sure the wheels and tires are firmly attached, driving while drunk, jumping out of moving vehicles...
