It's always interesting to see these extremes. Riot police using great restraint with some pissed-off dude because Greece f*cked their economy up. Then switch to outright blatant police brutality in Israel. Then switch to yet *another* law enforcement officer (I'm guessing) comforting some poor saps that are getting sent back to some really shiatty circumstances. And it seems to vary even within individual countries.

Well, hardship for most people, unless you are a New Yorker, then you get to whine about it needlessly, apparently.

A photo of someone mourning 9/11....an event from 11 years ago, is one of the most important photos of THIS year. Yes it was tragic....but can we move on beyond this now, New York-based media. I'm sure that the photos at year's Oklahoma bombing memorial ceremony was just as tear-jerky, but we don't get to see those.

//of course that "fashionista" picture doesn't do New York any favors, either.

Houses and architectural components from that era and especially that area plus all of Europe are built to boat-like standards.

However, I can judge just from the photo that this house has sustained serious water damage. Also, the furniture was damaged. Expensive antique European furniture.

I think I see water stains almost to his knees in this photo. He has a basement for sure. The basement is probably full of water.

Surprised no photos of London's Olympic or Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies made the list. They were full of stunning images. I probably would have gone with the British paralympic athlete in the closing ceremony who lost the use of her legs in the 7/7 attacks, the day after London won the 2012 bid. Her story really struck me at the time.

Photo #5 is a really good one. It's a shame there weren't any of that armless archer on the US team though - that guy was freaking incredible!

Fashionistas pose for photographs in front of a homeless man outside Moynihan Station following a New York Fashion Week show in September.

Those aren't models, are they? They look too short to be models, even with those massive heels.

There are a lot of these women in midtown-west (where this pic was taken, in the garment district). Typically, they were former sorority girls from mid-level schools who thought they were good enough to be models. Instead, they have to settle for working in the accounts receivable or purchasing departments at the fashion houses they once hoped to model for. That still doesn't stop them from playing dress-up, just like when they were little girls.

Yes, I do, I'm biased in favor of accuracy and not propped staged photos

Yes, you're clearly in favour of accuracy, so much so that you linked to articles from no name little blog that claims to combat the 'assault on Israel's legitimacy' and the director of CAMERA, a 'pro-Israel media watchdog group' that seeks to "respond to what it considers the media's "general anti-Israel bias."

Yeah, real accurate bias you got there.

Which one was from a "no name little blog", one of them was from a respected newpaper's website and the other from a well respected pro-Israel blog run by several journalists. Also you might have ignored the two videos. A eight minute unedited video of the event is all the proof you need and I had two videos. Don't be so selective. Though if you want more articles I can get you that.

/Oh hai there!

Is that real? I suspect it is not, given that the left wing of the shuttle would be finding itself somewhere in the middle of that two-story apartment given the shuttles 78 foot wingspan...and there is no sign of the Shuttle's Inglewood entourage (police...SoCal Edison...security...theme music...)

Nope. It's real - the wings were removed.

As a "Moment of Human Pride" - the drivers of the vehicle towing it said that people were lined up on the sidewalks, taking pictures.

The lead driver said, "It looked like we were towing a national hero home."

Yeah, I saw the video. Doesn't mean what's in those ridiculously biased articles is true or at least, exaggerated to beyond hyperbole. .

Do you have any links from non-hilariously skewed pro-israeli websites that refuse to take any position on an issue that isn't "Israel is the greatest ever'? Would that even be possible?
