I don't get all the hate for Jazz.

Is it because "Jazz" encompassed such a broad spectrum of music styles?

I always liked Dave Brubeck. "Cl;int Eastwood with teh soundtrack of "Bridges of Madison County" made discover Johnny Hartman and re-discover and fall in love with modern jazz, bebop, big band which led me to such stuff as Samba, Bossa Nova, and Dixieland.

After seeing Bridges I wandered into Jazz Showcase for live jazz and went at least once a week for more than a year thereafter.

I would agree that "Smooth Jazz" should be nuked from orbit, and free jazz and psychoacoustic jazz are plain painful.

Kids, the Jetsons theme is Jazz, so is A Charlie Brown Christmas.
