Jiro Dreams Of McRibs: So Ailes benched Turdblossom because of inaccuracy and NOT BECAUSE ROVE TRIED TO STEAL OHIO THROUGH ELECTRONIC VOTER FRAUD?

Yeah.

It is Fox News, not the US Government after all. Why would Ailes care what Rove did when he was off the clock?

Guntram Shatterhand: MrEricSir: Rove is over. You don't piss away millions in donations and still get to keep your job.

Pretty much this. Rove was hanging on by a string when Dubya got 'forgotten' and he was only really good for delivering on what he promised, more or less. After his temper tantrum (and fleecing of various GOP funders), he's lucky he's only losing his job. And this is what it is, pretty much. Permission isn't going to be given for anything important unless something changed.

Did he really fleece big donors, or did he launder their money for them and provide them with huge tax shelters?

My world is being turned upside down. Fox is getting rid of people who are proven liars, wrong and just plain stupid? This has to be a misprint. They won't have anyone left on the air.

He could be benching him because Rove failed at stealing Ohio.

MooseUpNorth: Still, meltdown? I still don't see it.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. I'm pretty much Lefty McLefterson (check this out if you haven't already), but all I see is him getting worked up a little bit, nothing like a "meltdown". The first time I saw it, my reaction was more or less "that's it?"

Could a canned ham HAVE an actual meltdown, though, is the question?

MooseUpNorth: Ace Rimmer: And this was all known by everyone when Rove was pulling his shtick.

Fair enough, he was wrong. Still, meltdown? I still don't see it.

Meltdown might be too strong a word, but its not inaccurate.

Even the most biased news agencies have no interest in misreporting election results. You aren't going to be able to convince your viewers that Romney is President for the next four years.

What makes the whole thing 'meltdown-ish' is that, in his position as commentator, he decided to take on the roll of election-caller, which is a 'reality-based' position in which his 'skills' don't apply.

Essentially, it's his job to comment on the election results, not to determine them. And he should have known that.

MooseUpNorth: if Anonymous was at all truthful

Think about that corollary for a minute.

Eddie Adams from Torrance: With Adelson saying he's prepared to spend even more next time, I have a feeling that Rove will soon be forgiven once Republicans remember that his being a lying sack of shiat is a feature, not a bug.

I honestly believe that Mr. Adelson will not be with us in the next four years. Mr. Adelson certainly isn't a picture of health. However, he does have money to keep himself alive for a while. Hopefully, it will be swift but painful.

It's rapidly becoming clear that Rove's meltdown on election night was him realizing that his relevance and career were crumbling before his eyes, and desperately trying to will the universe into producing a different outcome. He's been coasting on his reputation as some kind of ruthless political savant ever since 2004, but what has he really achieved since then? Huge losses in 2006 and 2008; 2010 staunched the bleeding, but I dunno how much of that he can really claim credit for. This election may have finally finished him in politics. You don't blow hundreds of millions of dollars without a single victory and then keep on dictating strategy like nothing happened.

You almost have to feel sorry for him, but then you remember that he outed a CIA agent as an act of political vengeance against her husband, and should probably be in jail right now.

Exactly. Stealing Ohio is a Republican tradition. Just ask this gentleman about 2004. Not that you'll get the truth out of him, but...

A hell of a lot easier than trying to ask Micheal Connel about it.

Uchiha_Cycliste: MooseUpNorth: if Anonymous was at all truthful

Think about that corollary for a minute.

Oh, I know. If they were right...

It was well reported that Rove's election tracking servers failed. Anonymous later claimed credit for that (while claiming credit for having stopped a no-shiat actual attempt to systemically tamper with voting machines through Rove's servers.)

So I say "if at all truthful" because I've seen no evidence to support either claim. I consider the first claim plausible on its face (I don't see Rove shelling out for the talent to harden their servers against determined attacks, and I can see anonymous doing it out of general 'principle'/malice), but I can't evaluate the second claim without evidence.

But I don't think it matters much for the purposes of my read of Rove's reaction. Rove's primary source of data failed, and was likely to have been scrambling to use whatever data his people could scrounge. Mere "Fog of War" can cause that sort of apparent 'disconnect'.

I've no doubt that Rove was mentally shiatting himself, his situation was (and still is) pretty dire, but he presented himself well on camera. The Faux News (w)anchors were the ones who visibly lost composure at being contradicted. That's all I'm saying.

I met that scumbag when he was running for Governor. Pure, concentrated evil.

Cletus C.: That's only Fair.

Now, will Fox get rid of two of its liberals to be Balanced?

What?

It's like the old joke about the drummer. You know how to tell when the drummer's riser is level? He's drooling equally out of both sides of his mouth. That's how we'll know when FNC is exactly balanced.
