I'll give him this one week at least. He knows he can be benched now. If he can't pull it together now, it's over for him.

In other words, it's over for him.

can't wait for the next home game, when the boo birds come out. i forgot who said it, but since the season is over anyways, why not dangle tebow out in front of the salivating jacksonville crowd? make them jealous, maybe try to coax them into trading for him. then, after the season cut sanchez and let mcelroy and whoever else you can get battle it out for the starting job next year.

If they see him up close they might not want him after the season when the new coach cleans house.

Ryan has decided that he is going to ride that handbasket straight to Hell.

At this point, I wonder if he is simply Trolling Jets fans.

Eh. As bad as the Jets are, the Jaguars are on a whole other level of suck. The Jets did blow out the Colts and the Bills this year with Sanchez at the helm, that was something.

2012-12-05 09:57:53 AM
Come to think of it though, if they do acceptably well against a shiatty Jags team, that's just going to justify them keeping Sanchez in the lineup in the future. We've gone on long enough, let's just see what McElroy can do and get on with our lives.

When the whole team plays well, Sanchez, is typically an ok QB. But when things get bad, he is typically the weakest link. His inconsistencies are killing this team.

I dont know how we go back to him as the starter. But my guess is it has something to do with the 8 million we owe him for next year. Whether we like it or not, we are stuck with him for another season. Not sure i can say the same for Rex.

Sanchez will stay with the Jets, but he may not be the starter. His contract seems to prevent a release without the Jets taking a huge salary cap hit.

Sanchez has gotten negative points in my fantasy league three times this year, the first QB to ever achieve this feat.
He has also thrown for over 300 yards three times this year. He's an up and down kind of guy, and the Jets are an up and down kind of team.
At 5-7, the Jets have not yet been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, and they have a lot of weak opponents coming up. I think it is a good decision.

2012-12-05 10:21:14 AM
He'll likely have a good game against Jacksonville.

You're probably right about Sanchez (he might even be assured of being the started next year since he's making that much), but I was talking about Tebow.

With the remaining schedules, the Jets could sneak into the 6th seed, but they need a lot of help from the Cowboys.

2012-12-05 10:31:42 AM
There's no way I'd start Timmysprinkles, or even get him more than a handful of snaps at QB. But if it's 1st and goal inside the 5, we're going to the Tebow offense.

One touchdown from him, and the Jacksonville fanbase will shove his trade value through the roof in the offseason. The Jets could ask for some insane "Herschel Walker to the Vikings"- level compensation, and as long as they did so slightly publicly, the pressure on the franchise to make that deal might be overwhelming.

They already want him. Just give them a little taste, and you make them junkies.

IIRC the Jets gave him that contract a couple of days after it came out that they were pursuing Peyton Manning, which made the press speculate about how they were dissatisfied with Sanchez.

2012-12-05 10:34:36 AM
Way I see it is after the Jags the Jets face: Titans, Chargers and Bills. There's a good chance they could split that and finish 2-2, if they go 3-1 or even 4-0 to finish the season then we'll have the circus back next year, and Rex saves his job. So Rex is gambling that Sanchez pops some Adderall and is able to focus long enough to beat 4 teams who suck just as bad as the Jets do. If they do they could finish 8-8 or hell even 9-7, blame the bad season on injuries and save his job.

As a Pats fan this is the best outcome :) I want this circus to continue for another 4 years.

How many years in a row? What have you done for me lately syndrome, me thinks.

And, Tebow just causes controversy by being Tebow on a team. They to just make a new team for the league, The Vatican Tebows, and he'll play all positions, and still win, because he's Tebow, and he's a 'winner'.

Living in Colorado, I am very happy Tebow was traded. For every story you hear nationally about him, there are a dozen local stories about him.

2012-12-05 11:04:33 AM
Listen. Do you hear that? The Jets crowd is already booing.

Maybe they could combine their two popular chants. Tee-boo! Tee-boo! Tee-boo!

/How can anyone employ a Ryan? Anything they do for you is just off-time till the bars open

2012-12-05 11:11:28 AM
Ryan will get a job somewhere else. All he's trying to do is accellerate it. When an owner meddles as much as Johnson does, you just want out. Sadly, Ryan won't learn from his mistake and will coach the Cowboys next year, complete with Jerry Jones / Romo goodness.

Sanchez needs a fresh start somewhere else but will never outlive butt fumble.

Tebow needs to go be the backup in Washington for RGII or Carolina for Cam Newton.

2012-12-05 11:22:23 AM
Even tho I hate the Jesus freak, I say give him a chance. Sanchez is farking garbage. If Rex allows this to continue, him and Sanchez should both lose their jobs.

The again, who cares, fark the Jets.

/Go Steelers.

So much this. People that are annoyed by Tebowmania on a national level have no idea what it's like living in a "Tebow town". The Cult of Personality surrounding the guy is ridiculously over the top. The hardcore Tebow faithful are some of the most obnoxious fans you'll ever meet and it makes hating on the guy very easy.

As a person who has a bet that Tebow will win one game for the Jets this year, I am fine with this decision. Rex has already pulled Sanchez once and can now do so again without worry. Tebow being from Jacksonville is now primed to be put in the game for a late game winning drive. That way Rex can trade Tebow to Jacksonville at the end of the year and groom McElroy to replace Sanchez after next season's $8M price tag comes due. I am primed to win my bet this weekend. I have to admit I was getting worried that Sanchez was never going to get pulled.

At this point Rex Ryan is just being obstinate. I understand if you don't want to start Tebow. Start McElroy then. Clearly having Mark Sanchez quarterback isn't working. Try something else.

The absolute best the Jets can hope to get in return for Tebow is a mid-round pick and even that is if he goes off one of these last couple weekends. If he rides the pine the rest of the way or if he gets a chance to play and continues to flounder the price only drops. The dream of getting a plethora of picks for him should be reserved for the talk show dolts.

/That being said, the Jets should take whatever they can get for him

I don't think Ryan's holding out on Tebow just for the heck of it, the guy is supposedly still recovering from some fractured ribs. Granted, when you're imbued with the divine power of Christ's love, a little thing like broken ribs shouldn't hold you back, but you can't really blame Ryan for not going with it.

Believe me, after his playoff run in Denver, the Tebowners wouldn't shut up about him being a 'winner' for months.
