Heh. I've seen pigeons get confused.
Around here, we've got a lot of small, dumb, ugly little pigeons. And some sparrows.

Here's where the two come in.
You start by feeding them birdseed. Get a whole mob of em milling about.

Smack the kid that just ran through the whole lot just to watch them scatter, then start again...

Then you throw a big chunk of bread in the mix.

The sparrow will see it, jump in, grab the whole chunk, and fly off.

This leaves a lot of confused pigeons, wondering where the bread went...

Cats can get dizzy, too. The chair I'm sitting in in my profile pic? It swivels. Entertaining (for me, anyway), grab the cat as in the photo, and start spinning around. Ever see a cat so dizzy that it tries to walk, staggers around like a drunk, then falls over? It's hilarious.

I'm with the drunk-or-not spaztacular all the way. It boggles my mind that scientists who see how evolution behaves in a very gradual way, and neurologists who can trace the expansion of capability precisely, fail to see that most likely conciousness (or level thereof) is on a sliding scale as well.

Everybody's concious - it's just a question of how much. Some day, after the eightieth study showing that animals have some capability heretofore thought only possible in humans, some asshole biologist will come up with the same theory I have and get a nobel prize.
