That is farking gold.

I wonder if people are finally realizing that these feedback sites are just magnets for people who want to biatch, who are probably playing up whatever problem they did have thinking that the management is going to rush to them to shower them with gifts to win them over.

It's good to see restaurants and businesses like this saying, "No, fark you, we think most people see the little game you're playing, so we're gonna post your dumbass comment right here in front of our place."

I mean, I work in customer service. The notion that you can be an asshole and get stuff given to you is endemic in how people approach us. And, too often, it works, and encourages more people to be assholes too.

I was Yelp Elite for several years. Finally stopped when I noticed I wasn't having much fun anymore when going out. Most of my evening was spent thinking about what I'd write in my review and to be "fair" I'd always try to find something good and something bad to write in the review which often required being nit picky. Many friends who I'd led to Yelp and also became Eliters had this spill over into how they dealt with each other. People who use to be fun to be around became judgmental pricks, sniping at each other and endlessly looking for faults. I had to leave them behind when I stopped reviewing. One even started stalking me for having the nerve to leave their little hive of judgement.

Yelp has some nice parties for their Elite members but in the end it just isn't worth having your brain rewired to become an arsehole just so they can get some free labor and you can get some free booze.

I find Yelp to be useful for looking up addresses, operating hours, and some details like if there is parking nearby but more and more I ignore the reviews.

abhorrent1: I've seen people give one star or bad reviews on sites like newegg or amazon cause they thought the blister-pack was too hard to open. That not a product review. It's a review of the reviewers intelligence.

/review!

What blows my mind are the people who give 1 star reviews on android market because they don't find a particular app useful to them. People give 1 stars for a puzzle game made for 3-6 year olds because it is too 'kiddy'. 1 star to an RPG game because they don't like RPGs. 1 star to an app that calculates water flow rates for a given area because they didn't find a use for it, 1 star to an app that doesn't work on their Donyang Firefly when a developer specifically says the app doesn't work on crappy phones made in Uruguay. (I have know idea if Uruguay makes a Donyang phone....). And one guy gave an app whose sole purpose was to make fart noises 1 star because all it did was make fart noises. Well, what did you expect, asshole? It says it makes fart noises, and it does exactly what it says. Did you want it to make breakfast for you as well?

So people are trying to turn yelp reviews into amazon reviews by trying and failing to be funny and sarcastic?
Just because you're a petty biatch doesn't mean a product or service is bad. The problem is you.
