Mark Ratner: borg: EvilEgg: Luke and Leia were high schoolers ( or least about that age) in A New Hope. Han was the creepy college kid who still hangs with high schoolers.

"That's what I love about high school girls, man. I get older and they stay the same age."

Kinda sad that was his first and best acting role to date.

you need to watch Reign of Fire. he was decent in that.

If Disney sees this and runs with it, then the Star Wars universe as we know it will be screwed...

(sobs uncontrollaby, then some more, then stops, sees the pictures again, and resumes)

Son of Thunder: Son of Thunder: Subdue their bellies: Are those... nunchucks? Why does Han have nunchucks?

The 80s was the decade of the Ninja Boom. And everyone knows ninjas are all about the nunchucks.

Wait a second. I sense a great disturbance in my logic, as if millions of brain cells suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Han had no use for hokey religions and ancient weapons.

So why does Han have nunchucks?

Because a Wookie and live on Endor.

cretinbob: ArkAngel: Lando is friggin' hilarious. Is the person next to him supposed to be Lobot?

I think that's Boba Fett...again This is not how people looked in the 1980's, This is how people were portrayed in movies from the late 1990's and early 2000's as being from the 1980's.

Which one are you having such qualms with. Luke is Marty Mcfly, that is the 80's. Leia is wearing a trendy outfit that celebs types wore in the 80s. Darth Vader and company are clearly wearing thriller inspired jackets. Han's does seem more early 90's to me, but those kinda blend together and Chewie could be anytime but the mullet certainly compensates for the late 80s look. Lando is dressed like the asshole from revenge of the nerds or any rich kid type in movies of the 80s. You seriously never saw people dress like Greedo, I sure did in the right circles. It might not be what you wore or what people you knew wore but it is mostly iconic pop culture 80s styles and there is no reason to get your panties in a twist over.

cretinbob: Though why Greedo and Lando would be together only heightens the level of fail that is that steaming pile.

The both tried to fark over Han Solo? Why do you care that they are paired up, the author isn't stating they are related just because the are in the same picture.

I have to say this is one of my funnier headlines, which makes me wonder how I got most of my greens in the first place.

Headline fail. C3PO has both of those.

Parthenogenetic: The janitor is a Gamorrean guard. Note the green color scheme, body habitus, and the brutish, slobby demeanor. The mop is a parody of a pole arm.

It's Jabba. The other two are Tarkin and Palpatine.

cretinbob: As imagined by someone who wasn't even born in the 1980's.

THIS.

I was class of '83, and really most people dressed like they did in the 1970s, except for the 'cool kids'.
Heck: a lot of my crowd dressed more like the 1990s grunge kids.

There were flashes of what is stereotypically 1980s fashion, mostly weird hair and the like. The
biggest thing in my time were FLASHDANCE-style leg warmers.

Nah I think it's actually pretty accurate. We had all of those types in Jr. High and HS, even the punk with the big mohawk. It really depends on WHEN in the 80s you went to HS, and WHERE. Early 80s, yes still looking more like 70s except for some of the emerging trends like legwarmers and Pat Benetar (see Fast Times) and mid-late 80s you had the huge stacks of bracelets, which Madonna popularized (she claims she did not invent that look, she was merely copying what the kids in the NY club scene were doing at the time)

Hawaiian shirts were a big thing, as well as various crazy patterns. imitation aviator glasses (thanks top gun) and mullets, yes. The Pat Benetar off the shoulder shirts, yes, we had those. Thriller jackets, or jackets with tons of zippers and buttons, yes those came with the breakdancing craze. Camo pants? Check. Saw those. Preppie sweaters tied over a golf shirt? yup. I can flip through my yearbook and see all this stuff.

Now I went to school in a larger city in California so we may have had more 'trendy' kids than the midwest, who knows.
