His career implosion aside, I'll give Gibson credit for helping Downey by helping him get insured for movies post-rehab.

Meh, i don't really care what celebrities do or say in their off time(long as it's not rape/murder, being an asshole is not really illegal). If they can do good work, I say let 'em.

I drink and party myself, as long as it doesn't affect my job, my employer shouldn't give a rat's ass. Most people agree with that view, but so many will still refuse to watch Mel in a film now...doesn't make sense to me.

If she weren't relatively famous she'd already be serving time and it would be a non-issue. Obviously she has poor impulse control and decision making skills and no longer deserves the latitude she has gotten up to this point. 6 months in a medium security prison should set her straight...well, except for when she is in the showers.

It's a harsh way to put it, but some people -perhaps many- really do need to hit rock bottom before they can be moved to get their act together. Maybe she's such a one.

What will the Mel-Gibson-Lindsay-Lohan-drunken-affair-spawn look like, do you reckon, if it survives the pregnancy and early childhood? It's the only way it could get worse.
