Fifty orgasms in a row? Over what time span? I mean, my gf had 87 in an hour one time. (Yes we were counting...) I think she is planning on having my tongue bronzed when I die.

fappomatic: davidphogan: Arumat: davidphogan: Mentally ill person kills themself, and...?

I mean, it's sad, but is that unexpected?

It's not a mental disorder. She was constantly physically but not psychologically aroused. Imagine having a boner for no reason. Now imagine that you've had it for over a decade.

That's still a mental disorder unless you have some details left out of TFA.

It's a neurological disorder. Not mental. There is no DSM-IV calssification. The syndrome is a physical response.

I stand corrected. I feel bad for her and her family, but neurological and/or mental disorders leading to suicide still isn't surprising.

How horrible her life must have been...she couldn't even have regular sex, as it was painful. And having 50 orgasms ..wow...im surprised that didn't kill her by itself. I feel for this poor lady, and anyone suffering from this condition. I hope they come up with something to help them so they don't feel they have to end their own lives. I cannot imagine how terrible it was for her.

Gosling: ComicBookGuy: She tried to file for disability twice, and was twice denied.

Classy.

Well, this isn't a common enough or sympathized-enough-with thing that anyone's actually going to provide useful help, or in some cases even think it's a problem in the first place. Every time someone does a story on this, the inevitable response is everyone going complete and total Beavis and Butthead over it and guy after guy going 'well, hell, let ME handle that problem'. Which is exactly the wrong thing to say. You have what is really a debilitating physical condition, which doesn't actually have a cure yet, and you can't even tell anyone because odds are people are going to make you out as some sort of nymphomaniac solely because of where on your body the condition is based.

Let's put it this way. Try and tickle yourself. You won't feel anything. Someone else tickles you, and you have a reaction. Why? Because your laughing is actually a signal your body's giving off asking for the tickling to stop. You can start and stop tickling yourself whenever you want, and your brain anticipates that, but you can't control when someone else tickles you. You get the same sensation when a spider's crawling up your leg, but you freak out then. It's something of an evolutionary holdover.

Same basic principle here. When you want to have sex, orgasm's all good and fun. But when you're not looking for sex, and you're drifting into orgasm anyway, it stops being so fun. Women orgasm during rape, after all. And when you're not looking for sex, but your body is demanding orgasm after orgasm after orgasm after orgasm, it's akin to being repeatedly, incessantly, eternally raped by your own body. That is basically what this is.

Her body is promoting rape culture

My ex could come like a freight train. We counted over thirty in a 90 minute session once. 10 in a row was like "warm up" for her.

But unlike this poor women, it's not like she walked around sexually aroused all the time, with nothing to "ease the pain".

I briefly had PGAD symptoms when my fibromyalgia wa making my pudenal nerve go crazy. I can tell you it's no farking fun whatsoever. Imagine your genitalia engorged and sore, plus the feeling that you're having a raging bladder infection on top of that. Sex and masturbation are an exercise in screaming pain. Oh, and you continuously have orgasms you can't control every time you shift your weight in your seat, move your legs slightly, etc. And you CAN'T TURN IT OFF. If you're extremely lucky, it might go away by itself, but if I were like this woman and had to put up with it for 16 years, I could totally see eating a shotgun.

And I'm not all that religious so this condition totally had nothing to do with some church telling me that touching myself was a no-no.

I hope those who are making light of this condition never have a daughter or female relative who has to live with it.

I have to wonder though, if someone with this condition were willing to go to the other extreme and have no sensation at ALL, would it not be possible for them to get some appropriate nerve just snipped?

Or barring that, can they do a long term nerve block? I know people are able to get some fairly long-term spinal anesthesia and whatever.

I wonder if hers was in the same way as yours because the article only mentioned the shame from masturbation not pain. I meant no offense or lack of sympathy for her condition. It just reminded me of my father who was suffering from cancer and gave up eating except for Popsicles due to a lack of appetite. He would not break his Faith and smoke pot, even when his doctor encouraged it and my brother, the super law abiding cop, was willing to get it for him.

I'm guessing if something were happening that you just couldn't take and it would be too painful, like let's say, your mom was about to be hit by a speeding bus you'd just stand there and say "um, nope, sorry mom, i'd not be right in the head if I did something like that".

Just because a person chooses that they'd rather die than experience something doesn't mean there's something wrong in their head, it actually means they have a real idea of Principle and a person who won't die for their principles doesn't have any.

The lady was a super religious Lutheran, and the act of masturbating itself was shameful. A religious person wouldn't kill themselves. So, no, she wasn't all there.

I have ADHD, but I'm not mentally ill. I just have a mental disorder. I suppose the main difference is severity and connotation. The other being her situation was caused by a physical response and was not neurological. If a person goes insane from constant physical pain that would make them mentally ill. If something in her brain was the cause of the physical pain then she would have a mental disorder.

Wouldn't that go back to where I was speculating that the physical discomfort was likely the result of a mental disorder? I'm just getting confused now.
