After hits like "Knocked-Up," "27 Dresses" and "The Ugly Truth," Heigl's salary shot up to the $12 million range.

Wow, that's remarkable for someone so unremarkable.

Drew Barrymore topped last year's list, but wasn't in the most recent top 10 because she hasn't starred in three big releases over the last three year

She however is awesome.

Somehow I'm guessing the author doesn't come even close to the margin of profit considered 'worst'.

What's a good return on a movie salary dollar?

If anything I learned from 'Shallow Hal' is that Gwyneth Paltrow learned a lot from wearing her fat suit in public to learn about fat people and their culture. She learned especially about how people stop paying attention to you when you are not Gwyneth Paltrow and are fat. Now on to slide labelled #2. What did C. Thomas Howell learn at the end of 'Soul Man'? That while he learned an important lesson about racism and the constant struggle against racism and also racism. Unlike black people, he had a choice to go back to being white.

Ergo, was not the fat suit lesson Gwyneth tainted? Did she really learn anything about being fat?

What I don't understand is when there's a need for someone to be briefly old in a serious business movie (Japanese guy in Inception, Winona Ryder in Edward Scissorhands, Carla Gugino's unnecessary oldification in Watchmen) they invariably look like shiat, but Eddie Murphy's makeup and prosthetics always look flawless.

Old age makeup never looks good. I don't know what it is, they just can never get it right. Even if it's not someone you know, like I didn't know Guy Pierce was in Prometheus but I recognized there was a dude with bad old age makeup on.

I rewatched "Tank" with my wife and father-in-law a little bit ago, and noticed a you C. Thomas Howell in it. My wife asked,"Whatever happened to him?"
and I replied "Soul Man."

He had to lower himself to television. He is on "Southland."

Eddie Murphy made a couple of good movies after he left SNL and he's been coasting ever since.

lilistonic: What's a good return on a movie salary dollar?

I suppose it should be at least 10. I mean, if one actor is getting paid $20 million, than figure the total production budget is at least $60 million, and the marketing budget is another $40 million. For that much money the film better make at least $200 (which isn't all that great of an ROI considering how much money you had tied up in a single film).

Sometimes I wonder if Eddie Murphy still really is funny in private, because he's clearly not made anyone publicly laugh in a very long time unless he's an animated donkey.

Now I wonder who's the LEAST overpaid actor? Where's that list?

When The Hobbit makes a billion dollars, Ian McKellen will probably be wondering why he wasn't paid $20 million.

Re: Eddie Murphy-

For a while a long time ago, no one could TOUCH him comedically. Best stand up ever. Then...

...something snapped in him. Not sure what it was, but he was like a supernova- burning brighter than a 1,000 suns, then... nothing.

Ed's been one of those "don't see his movies howsomever the preview looks" for a good 30 years. Kinda like Nicky Cage before Nicky started stinking up the screen after winning his Oscar.

I've never got Heigl. The ex loved her, she always struck me as annoying.

That said, One For the Money was nowhere near as bad as I'd heard. On the one hand, you've got the horribly miscast Heigl. On the other, you've got the great book. It all ended up as a 'meh'.

Last year's comedy "The Big Year" barely registered at the box office.

The feel good peeping Tom movie of the year.

// I liked it.

Well to be fair to Steve Martin, there were a lot of Cohen/Coen mixups last year.

He also directs, writes, produces AND stars in a movie rip off every week over at Asylum Films. He's as unstoppable as AIDS or genocide in Africa. I think he just shows up on sets and hangs out until he's given bit parts to go away.

I blame coming to america. now, Coming to America is a brilliant comedy, possibly one of the best ever made. But.... everything after that was pretty much a downward spiral.

I would say actors who are real actors like Gary Oldman. I'm not saying he's starving and I'm sure he made bank with Batman but most "movie stars" just play themselves and pick up a $30 mill check. Oldman's a freaking chameleon. Commissioner Gordon's one of the only "normal" character he's played.

And obviously the kids from Harry Potter must have gotten paid more than Alan Rickman.

Not just that. Recently he has shown up in Revolution, Castle, Amazing Spider-Man.
