[OBVIOUS] Artists do not want to be one-hit wonders.

Out of all the dance craze songs, Gangnam Style is one of the better ones. It's annoying since it's so damn overplayed, but it's way better than Macarena ever was.

My band was learning to play Stairway recently (for long reasons I won't go into - suffice it to say, not my idea). So for perhaps the first time in my life, I actually was forced to read the lyrics.

Holy good Christ those lyrics are dumb. Pretentious, childish twaddle, like it was written by an angsty 16 year old with a LotR obsession (which actually isn't too far off).

I honestly had trouble getting through the song because I kept breaking out laughing at the awful bullshiat lyrics.

It's not as bad as The Whose Left still playing My Generation. Only Keith Moon should be allowed to play that song ever again.

Perhaps I should re-evaluate my musical associations.

robert plant was the weakest link in led zeppelin. the rest of that band was a mother-effin legitimate super-group, and then they hired that twat. all of the robert plant lyrics sound that way. the stuff page wrote from start to finish? brilliant. the rest of it? pretentious tolkien-obsessive stream of consciousness.

It's not old for me. I must be the last person left on earth who still hasn't seen this video or heard this song through to the end. I did catch about the first minute of the video on YouTube a couple weeks back but turned it off out of indifference, and since I don't listen to commercial radio and watch no network TV, my exposure remains nil.

Sounds like I'm not missing much. Hell, I'm still ignorant of that "Friday" song. They still say "Ignorance is bliss," right?

Ugh. I just realized that this is is going to be played by the twits at the company party. .

Not unusual...

Bobby McFerrin hates "Don't Worry, Be Happy".
OMC hated "How Bizarre".
Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits got to where he hated playing "Sultans of Swing" so much he changed the guitar solo's.
The remaining members of Pink Floyd have virtually disowned everything before Meddle.
The Beastie Boys think "Fight for Your Right (to Party!) sucks.
Michael Stipe would be just as happy for people to forget "Shiny Happy People"
Kurt Cobain loathed having to perform "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
Tom Petty hates performing "Don't Do Me Like That".

So relax, Psy... you're in good company.

The big difference there is that your list of artists had a significant body of work behind them to fall back on.

Apparently a successful career back in Korea going back to 2001-2002 Gangnam Style was his international hit.

/ a little tired of hearing his song, but I gotta admit some of the goofy videos people have made to his song are pretty funny, especially the Transformers one.

And by "busted out" you mean "Has one hit on the radio."

As opposed to "Multiple platinum and gold records" for those other artists. Actually.

I said he'd be sick of it in another thread just a few days ago.

Just as when I saw Eric Burdon over 20 years ago say "God I hate this f*cking song" before playing House of the Rising Sun (and it doesn't matter that Burdon didn't write it, he made it a hit).

Also, Mick Jagger once said he didn't want to still be playing Satisfaction by the time he was 45. What is he, 65 now? Maybe older? I bet they're still playing Satisfaction.

Hmm, just looked up the Stairway lyrics for the first time ever. While I guess it's not Shakespeare, I didn't think they were that bad. What exactly is so horrible about them? Is Battle of Evermore just as horrible in your opinion?

Do you actually like Led Zep songs to start with? Or LoTR? And Led Zep songs specifically about LoTR? If you said no to any of these things then yeah, singing Stairway is probably going to be rough.

My un-asked for and quite probably unwelcome advice to you is to try and enjoy the song for what it is, not what you wish it were. Weed helps.

Apparently you didn't read it all that well. What I read said the job he had was basically took the job he had to evade the compulsory military service, but since he was screwing around not working and doing concert and music shiat, they decided to force him into military service anyways.

/farking hell I'm defending Psy now...
