mat catastrophe: A thing which parodies itself isn't funny, and it isn't "doing a nice job" with the material.

It's sad. It was a painfully bad movie that used nostalgia to blind people my age and older to that fact and ironic-faux nostalgia to blind the hipster set.

I'm so glad I'm not one of those people who can't enjoy anything.

It wasn't parodying itself, it was parodying the genre of "the musical". The Muppets were a parody of "the variety show".

Whatever, you didn't like it because you don't like musicals, or variety shows... that's fine. But don't pretend you ever liked the Muppets, or would like them if they were on TV today. You wouldn't because parodying a "variety show" in this day and age makes NO sense. I suppose they should have parodied reality TV? UGH.... *shudder*

/why did I even think that, much less type it??

So Jar Jar wasn't there to help with the rebellion. Just as Lucas won't be there to help with episode vii. Which was submitter's point.

so he may have been there as a tasty snack.

I'm fine with it. Red Letter Media is gonna need that behind the scene footage of GL standing way off to the side staring, while the adults figure out this mess.

Jar Jar was the sucker that put to Emergency Powers motion to the Senate. So, in effect he did help out the Rebellion to flourish by CREATING THE FARKING EMPIRE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

To be fair he really didn't help much with the prequels
