I'm going to sue fark for not posting my article submissions.
2001-11-22 12:04:42 AM
People sue for the trauma caused by being sued.
2001-11-22 12:06:00 AM
This happened years ago and is just now entering the news areana. Oh well.
2001-11-22 12:08:30 AM
Sounds like the whole family needs to be burried head down in a ditch and covered with a mixture of shiat, toxic waste and the crusty stuff you find at the corner of your mouth in the mornings...
2001-11-22 12:09:41 AM
is right..

What's the deal with dead children on Fark??
2001-11-22 12:10:26 AM
i think they should sue the deer for luring the man into the forest, who in turn left his toddler alone, who wandered off and froze to death causing his father to commit suicide.

the blame lies squarely on the deer.. oh, and the call of the wild. that, or ted nugent, for be a public hunter. there are far too many people/things at fault here.
2001-11-22 12:12:40 AM
Class Action Fat bob Smith.

Hell "Deseret news" im sure that the Waymant's got plenty of replacement children. Sorry Mormons I am bad or something and indeed should be punished in some pit of hell.
2001-11-22 12:16:45 AM
Rancor: Good idea. Sue the deer. Better yet, let's sue God for making the deer (and Ted Nugent). See, there IS an advantage to being religious!
2001-11-22 12:20:53 AM
Sue the the maker of the pickup truck for transporting him into the woods. Sue the oil company that filled his tank. Sue the tire manuafacturer... uh.. oh they are already doing that...

In some countries the "good sameritan" laws will protect the searchers.

Next kid lost in the bush in that country is dead meat. "Sorry mam we can't search for you kid until unless you sign this waiver to not sue us incase we don't find your kid alive".
2001-11-22 12:27:43 AM
Watch them win this.
2001-11-22 12:33:30 AM
C'mon son, let's go out hunting!!! Get yer camo jammies on let's roll.

O, OOooo I see a deer! I see one! Ok, here's the plan:

You go flush him out of that valley from the right...towards the truck...and I'll take the shot. This'll be great!
2001-11-22 12:34:33 AM
Ooooh that's cold.........get it?

This happened years ago and is just now entering the news areana. Oh well.

October 29, 2001 is years ago? I knew I shouldn't have taken that nap after dinner.
2001-11-22 12:55:30 AM
Not to play down just how horrible it is that this child died, but the last two year-old I knew of named Gage was a pretty vicious kid...although this is a rather charming picture of him. I clearly remember him with a knife.

Interesting observation, XiuZan.
2001-11-22 01:06:09 AM
Figures it's deseret news. That means it's some crazy Utahan....probably mormon too. Those guys are always on the edge of something godawful happening.

I used to be one, I know. >: |
2001-11-22 01:15:59 AM
I love lawyers. I wish we had a lot more of them!
2001-11-22 01:35:50 AM
The guy was sentenced to thirty days in jail. He should've been glad that it was only thirty days. After all, his actions resulted in the death of his son. Their case doesn't have a leg to stand on - a court found the father's negligence to be the cause of the death
2001-11-22 01:37:58 AM
You are all assholes. THX!
2001-11-22 01:41:19 AM
I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.

Then I remember that it was just a load I shot into a sock.

Go figure.

and behind.
2001-11-22 01:42:53 AM
Huzzah for sue-happy America!

Please don't sue me for being sarcastic.

I'll sue you.
2001-11-22 02:07:05 AM
This shouldn't ever make it to the courts and they shouldn't ever see a single penny....they should actually be fined for stupidity and greed!!!!....if they ever get a single cent I think I'll wander out into the snow myself and end it all...
2001-11-22 02:15:05 AM
These people are exceptionally stupid. The searchers do not have loads of cash, and make poor targets for lawsuits.

Obviously, they should be suing the pickup manufacturer who failed to put a sticker on the dashboard that said "Warning: Do not leave 2-year-old unattended in truck while you go hunting".
2001-11-22 02:20:44 AM
Hey, at least no one's laughing this time. But then, we haven't heard from Fb- yet.
2001-11-22 02:24:54 AM
Ah! America! Land of Opportunity!
2001-11-22 02:24:59 AM
As stupid as the suers are, there's bound to be a jury more stupid and award a bazillion dollars to this idiots.
2001-11-22 02:42:44 AM
You have GOT to be kidding me.
2001-11-22 02:57:02 AM
This reminds me of the case where the father of one of the OSU basketball players who was killed in the Colorado plane crash back in January is suing the estate of the (also deceased) pilot. You have to try to understand that they are mourning, but COME ON. This is just an example of somebody trying to be greedy and profit off of a tragedy. Worse yet is that the tragedy is in their own family. Attempting to pull crap like this is like spitting on your deceased family member's grave.

Shi† happens. People must start to realize this. Accidents WILL happen, and unfortunately, people will die as a result. But you cannot go around suing people just because said shi† happened to happen to them.

This is quite possibly the single most

story I have ever read on Fark.
2001-11-22 03:02:13 AM
Classact: As unfortunate as it is, you're probably right. If some lady can get $1 million from McDonalds* for spilling her own coffee in her own farking lap, who knows what the hell can happen.

* You have got to be pretty damn disturbed anyway to eat at McD's. Or at least very resistant to agents that cause food poisoning...
2001-11-22 03:17:26 AM
I used to work at McDonald's. They immunize you before you put on the uniform.
2001-11-22 03:18:36 AM
Good hell, its like open season on mormons around here.

I live in Utah, and yes am mormon too. But for the record I,

a) believe that this is the dumbest lawsuit of all time,

b) did not go to, nor do I support BYU. I despise that damn football team and their idiotic fans,

c) last time I checked have only one wife and no kids.

Not everyone in Utah, or Mormons for that matter, can be catagorized into one giant lump of idiots. Sure, we have our freaks just like any other religion, but for the most part I don't consider myself different than the other boobie loving, sarcastic shmucks that roam this website.

I am not trying to change your opinion or tell you that you are damned to an eternal life of fire and brimstone like Jack Chick. Hell, what ever you do with your life is up to you---I could care less. I just don't want the public perception to be that just because I am mormon, that I have 10 wives, 100 kids, and a 14 IQ.

How about Fark Fest Salt Lake City? hehe
2001-11-22 03:24:34 AM
white trash at it best
2001-11-22 03:28:17 AM
How about Fark Fest Salt Lake City? hehe

Fark Fest Tulsa! :P

(Although I'm wondering whether I'll be able to fly out to Lexington some time for a farkparty)
2001-11-22 03:54:50 AM
"October 29, 2001 is years ago? I knew I shouldn't have taken that nap after dinner."

Hehe =0

Living proof that Darwin was right. How many more of them are out there?
2001-11-22 04:17:33 AM
That is funnier than Vietnam.
2001-11-22 04:33:57 AM
This reminds me of......
2001-11-22 04:38:18 AM
"I just don't want the public perception to be that just because I am mormon, that I have 10 wives, 100 kids, and a 14 IQ."

Hey, Scottyg55, me thinks you've repsonded to a different thread here. The mormon cadets beating on fellow mormons is elswhere, for sure. No comment on how the public will react to your mistake...
2001-11-22 04:46:44 AM
Antinorm: Think it's also about shifting blame from a moron father. "Hey see. The jury give us money so it couldn't have been his fault he killed his son."
2001-11-22 05:05:59 AM
Longest headline ever...
2001-11-22 05:15:07 AM
If the wife hadn't given birth to the kid none of this would have happened. she should sue her own ovaries.
2001-11-22 05:16:40 AM
Ah, the McDonalds case. What discussion about lawsuits would be complete without it? Can anyone tell me how much the plaintiff received from MickeyDs?

And who could tire of Farkers mistaking the filing of a lawsuit, which any moron can do and often does, for having a legitimate claim and winning a lawsuit?

America should do away with the jury system and replace it with a Fark system, where cases are decided based on newspaper reports.
2001-11-22 05:18:50 AM
I think we should all carry knives and settle any disputes that way.
2001-11-22 05:25:59 AM
Seriously, though, Salah's got a good point. In English legal history alone, a cloud, a pig and a goat have all been arrested at one point or another through royalty and religious people being, well, human and naive, I suppose.

But I could FILE a case against the pope for not encouraging God to answer my prayer for my own tank or drum kit, but that's not the legal system's asininity (good word, Goatman, well done) for accepting it (I believe they have to?), it's ME being a prick with less right to walk the earth than a politician.

However, as he says, most people don't realise this.
2001-11-22 05:27:36 AM
Most people do tend to realise I'm a prick with less right to walk the earth than a politician, however.
2001-11-22 05:43:37 AM
Goatman: well quite, but that's an entirely different issue. ;)

I reserve criticism of the legal system until I hear which way the trial goes. If they win...doh! NB if they win, as soneone said then nobody will go searching in case of being more people will die because nobody finds their families will sue this family for farking it all up by suing in the first place??

Can I just say, irrelevantly, that I am leaving my much loathed job today! bad news = will be doing work I enjoy so not spending all day farking. good news = brain will no longer be dribbling out of ears.
2001-11-22 05:46:05 AM
Londongirl: Might I make you aware of the fact that it is 10.47 already, and you don't appear to be under the influence of huge amounts of vodka yet? Some may find this behaviour offensive, madman.
2001-11-22 05:52:39 AM
Goatman: was that madman or madam? either will do. in any case I am surfing the adrenaline rush of never coming back here again.

and as of lunchtime I am getting *monstered*.
2001-11-22 05:55:39 AM
LG: Monstered is a good word. So is bladdered. I think the most offensive term I've heard used for being drunk, though (and it made a difference coming from a really haughty "Daddy's got a Porsche!" public school girl) was "hat-racked".

Good luck with it all - I expect spurious and offensive, badly spelled comments this afternoon =;-)
