Disagree. Only the last one sucked. Matrix Reloaded is still one of the best action movies ever made, and it has the best car chase scene in the history of film.

I'm with you. "Reloaded" was a lot of fun, despite the tedious exposition. Not to mention the fact that it had:

Too bad they forgot how to direct between the first and the second movie. And the rave scene is reason enough to never watch the second movie. Ever.

I've got a friend on the "inside" in LA.
She told me that at first Bill was for doing the movie as long as they did it his way.
He wanted the third movie to be about the time the original three members of the Ghostbusters met in college and got interested in paranormal activity due to some weird stuff happening on campus.
The thing was, Bill wanted himself and his cohorts to play themselves in college, no younger actors, no special effects to de age them...it was supposed to be a joke against Hollywood for taking old material and trying to put it into a new package...all very meta humour.
The execs didn't go for it so Bill walked.
The only reason I know this is because my friend on the inside said that if I told anyone, she was sure no one would believe me.
So...maybe we need to brace ourselves for a Ghostbusters prequel...

That is really farking stupid.

I once worked with a pair of morons that thought it would be funny to announce that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake died in a car crash back in 2001. Real funny until CNN started calling asking what was up...

fusillade762: Bill Murray also likes to call Kelly Lynch's husband every time he sees Patrick Swayze having sex with her in "Road House".

I love that anecdote.

One of the few celebrity anecdotes I bother repeating because it's so awesome, and because I had to explain to my SO, roommate, other roommate, and two friends who called why the hell I was purposefully watching Road House (Well, Rifftrax, but I kind of had to after reading that interview)

Agreed. It might have been a magnificent trilogy if the Wachowskis had focused more on a coherent narrative and less on visual effects and quasi-philosophical babble.

So I am a special and unique snowflake.

I always kind of felt bad for William Atherton. If you had seen the Michener Centennial miniseries- he had a really sweet, sad part, and was one of my favorite characters from the show. He and Lynn Redgrave were great together. Everything he did after that was some version of complete dick. Typecasting for the win.

I was always under the impression that 2 was widely accepted.

Saw it in the theater. I think it still holds up well, and the 1st as well. Cmon. Vigo? Balky? The He-Man thing in the beginning? 8 year old me, LOVED THAT! cuz I was SO over He-Man and Dino-Riders was where it was at.

Now, time to go to the Terminator thread and shiat all over every movie. 1st holds up better than all.

Except he didn't seem concerned about the particle accelerators. His hissy fit was over the box in the basement that was consuming so much power with no noticeable byproducts.

Dickless allowed the minor issues to completely blind him to the major issues.

Which is why he is such a believable character as an EPA employee.

In the comic, he's the City of New York's head of Paranormal Contracts Oversight Comission. Slightly more restrained but still as big an ass to the team. Good stuff if you don't read it..

I still remember when I first read the possibility of a Ghostbusters III, back in the mid 90's. It was the early days of imdb and I recall seeing the cliche scenario of "the old guys train the new guys", the new guys mind you being played by Will Smith, Chris Farley and (remember, this was the mid 90's), Pauly Shore.

nope. Child of the 80's here. Was 12 years old when the first movie came out. LOVE me some Ghostbusters. Was SOOOOO excited when GB2 was announced.

and then I saw it. I will tell you this - people that LIKE GB2 must have been shown a different film than I saw, because the GB2 I saw was farking terrible and an affront to the original. That is the only thing that I can think of when people say "i liked GB2" or "hey, GB2 holds up!". Because friends and neighbors, GB2 is pure excrement.

/It is the same with Robocop 2. Robocop is farking amazing, one of the best films of the 80's. And then someone shat out Robocop 2. I was so farking excited to see that movie, as Robocop remains (at my current age of 40) my favorite film of all time. Left the theater after Robocop 2 wanting to end the people responsible.
