Ow! That was my feelings!: "A hunter will pay about $70 for "standard process" for an 85-pound deer. "

That's processed weight, right? If not, that might explain why so many Texans come to Colorado to hunt, the local deer are friggin tiny.

Yeah, but they're *so much tighter*.....

My friend hunts, but he must be pretty crappy at it, or very selfish because he hasn't offered me any venison jerky yet. I am beginning to become suspicious.

i think you mean verizon

No. I tried eating a Verizon once. Many people spoke highly of it, but it was just overpriced and overhyped. All gristle, no meat.

They are pretty small. The ones on site at NASA look like horned great danes.

eas81: For you city folk that think that meat comes from a supermarket this is not strange. Those of us that grew up in the back woods learn how to use a gun and a knife and how to gut the creatures that we take from nature at an early age. Helped with my first Steer when I was five.

i grew up minutes outside of NYC. i too learned how to use a knife and a gun at a very young age. i never used the phrase "gut the creatures that we take from nature at an early age" but I believe i can relate to where you're coming from.

I don't eat it though.

Don't be silly. Meat comes from a plant and is cut up by Mexicans and Somalis.
