I don't see it.

This is the first time I've seen the Star Trek: Into Darkness movie poster. Quite frankly, if it didn't have the Star Trek name on it I would have not have made the Star Trek connection, given that it doesn't show the Enterprise, space, stars, and only the back of one person who is not wearing a Starfleet uniform and they are standing in a ruined city.

Well, there is the vague outline of the Starfleet arrowhead. Still, it says less Star Trek and more post apocalyptic city in ruins.

Does it also have a flying unicorn?

I knew vaguely there was going to be another Abrams Star Trek but this is the first I'm seeing anything specific about it.

I guess it's fitting that they stick with the hole-in-the-scenery theme for the teaser poster considering the first film was nothing but holes in the plot.

Fans of the new Batman films are REALLY hypersensitive about other franchises being derivitive of their babies. I find this odd, personally, because it's the acting and tone that really sets the Nolan Batman films apart. The stories are meh.

If you hold your hand along the length of your nose, it looks like you are looking at 2 different movie posters at the same time.

The Dark Knight Rises poster is pretty cool, a claustrophobic look up surrounding by imposing buildings that magically also reveal a portion of the sky in a shape that could be interpreted as maybe possibly looking like the Batman's logo. Very well done.

Star Trek's poster looks like they had a monkey strapped infront of TDKR's poster in an appalling bastardization of the Ludovico technique, and then fling crap at a blank canvas.

Why is there a man in a cape on the Star Trek poster?

Big deal.

It sounds a bit like 24.

2012-12-03 09:26:53 AM
Oblig.

Of course it's a copy. There are no original ideas in Hollywood.

I mean it may be superior, yet Bale/Nolan Batman is a remake too.

If you are judging a movie by it's poster then you aren't actually judging it by it's poster. You have already decided you'll be displeased with the whole movie.

Star Trek: Into Grimdark

The first thing I thought, watching this poster, was "Firefly", not "TDKR".

Eh, Paramount's marketing people said "Dark Knight Rises was a big hit! Make the poster look like that!" so the designer did.

Big whoop. It's Hollywood.

You said keep your eyes out of focus, which is misleading. You want DEEP focus!

I see something that could be a spaceship. Is it round? Is it pointy?

Movie posters suck nowadays.

Nobody makes one sheets like this anymore. They're all Photoshopped composites.

Not a word of a lie, I thought it was a Superman poster at first.

Remember how they hyped up Nemesis to the point of absurdity, and the end result was dune buggy racing?

I'm pretty happy that Into Darkness isn't getting that much hype.

As opposed to this Empire poster where they all posed to be photographed like that!
